We can trade future draft picks to, we have to be careful though
Because you are forced to take at least one first rounder every three years. (I believe it was that)

We have traded out of a few first rounds the last couple of years

When was our last first round pick guys?
Wasnt it English last year ?

English last year. Bont before that.

Who knows how the future first round pick works though. Unless they are forced to get one this season, Geelong won't have used one for the last three years

I can't see a way the team isn't worse off if JJ leaves, it would clear cap space but then your either getting a much lesser player as a free agent or giving something in a trade and ending up with a lesser player or draft pick. If he goes the number one need at the club becomes a JJ type, which seems ridiculous when you can just keep him to begin with given his importance to the team. It's amazing how often during the past three seasons when JJ plays well the team plays well and when he doesn't the team doesn't.

I felt the club undervalued Hamlings importance and obviously didn't deem him worth paying what they thought was overs at the time. But right now he would be worth what Freo are giving him and then some given the lack of his type at the club. With JJ it's the same you might not deem him worth that much now but wait until the team starts playing without him.

I think it is 2 every 4 drafts

The team is horribly devoid of confidence. I'm sure everyone has noticed that the outliers who were so destructive last year are getting butchered because the 3 or 4 at the coalface are getting monstered at the moment.

The number of times I saw us break free, a player turn to handball to someone expected to be there and there was no one there to receive the handball. For those on the opposite wing to the cameras, and I haven't watched the replay to see if it was noticed, the worst one was Bont chasing Nathan Jones on the wing, Jones turned inboard and Bont gave up the chase when he was close.

That just showed me how far we'd fallen.

The confidence will come back, it will turn and I'm sure we'll play finals - and probably well - but we are at the bottom of the trough right now and it's up to the best players to pull their fingers out and make a difference.
This part hurt so much yesterday. They ended up either holding on too long and getting caught or just handballing randomly.

Sorry to intrude but do you think JJ value has plummeted in the last 2 weeks?
You'd think given his output relative to the team's performance over the last 3-4 years, we'd be boosting our offer and thinking of ways to shield him from scrub taggers.

Has his real value changed? I don't think so. Has his market value? Probably, but that's a stupid and volatile metric.

Thanks. Well said and I agree. I have a friend (WB supporter) who believes his career is over as he is now seen as soft.

A pretty big chink in his armour has been exposed and if the last 2 games are anything to go by he's not showing he can deal with the extra attention. If he can figure it out then it might just be a blip on the radar but if he can't then he might be wishing he took the early offers.

Gee 2 weeks is a long time in football.
Whatever happened to a young player learning to work through a tag?

Yes, agree but there's no doubt he's under a Fremantle or Essendon microscope at the moment and I'll think they be watching very closely.
They are also the one's who offered him the outrageous contracts. If they don't want to pay him, we keep him for less. Sounds good to me.
