I reckon we'll see how overrated Jordan Lewis is next year. From the Hawks four premiership players I rate him at the bottom by a loooooong way.

Good get for Melbourne considering what they paid, but I don't think it hurts the Hawks that much. On field at least. Certainly not like Mitchell does.

Just to give people an idea of what we got for Hamling, over the last 10 years picks 35 & 36 have netted:

Picks 35:
2015 - Marcus Adams
2014 - Harrison Wigg
2013 - Toby Nankevis
2012 - Tom Temay
2011 - Daniel Markworth
2010 - Ben Newton
2009 - David Astbury
2008 - Jamie Bennell
2007 - Sam Reid (Bulldog version)
2006 - Mark Austin

Picks 36:
2015 - Tom Cole
2014 - Ed Vickers-Willis
2013 - Jarred Janson
2012 - Tanner Smith
2011 - Rory Taggert
2010 - Aaron Young
2009 - Joel Houghton
2008 - Ashley Smith
2007 - Steven Browne
2006 - Alwyn Davey
This is deceptive because the majority of these picks were by shitty recruiters. Looking at Dal's picks there and past there in previous seasons fills me with comfort.

Really? Think about the blokes those picks get. I'd be more inclined to back Dally with more 50 and under picks than one of them being better.
We are only losing

Minson
Hrovat
Hamling
Stevens

In comes Cloke

Unless we cut Prudden then rerookie him, we will only need 3 live picks

43 and Stevens for 36 is a massive win for St Kilda imo in terms of value, but it makes sense for us unless we are dumping Prudden or trading a Honeychurch or something, we have only moved on one rookie this year and another rookie has retired also, so as it stands 2 rookies will need to be drafted also.

Would expect Hrovat gets done for a future pick because it's useless currently

Great point. In most drafts there is serious talent found after pick 35. It's up to your recruiter to go and find it and Dal has shown he has a good nose for talent.

To put another perspective to that

From picks 35 - 55 the last 8 drafts have yielded some gun or decent mids and other good players.

08 Sloane, Motlop, Walters
09 Christensen, Stratton
10 Parker, Fasolo
11 Newnes and Neale
12 Mason Wood and Membrey
13 Barass, Allir, Ben Brown, Fantazia (that fuller selection hurts bad)
14 Caleb Daniel
15 Bailey Williams.

Don't discount the importance of nailing a great selection In this region.

Lookong forward for trade period over so i dont have to keep listening to people talk about hawks
I am actually enjoying it as its good to see the family club resemble the family from the Godfather movies!!

In all seriousness I love hearing all this crap about it being part of Clarkos master plan and how he has done it before. As good a coach as Clarcko is its factually wrong to say he has done it before as never before has he had success without Hodge, Mitchell and Lewis together. The first two are one in a generation players and not easily replaced so jury is still out on the merits of this strategy.
If it were my club and it was say the Bont, Dahl and Libba coming to the end of their careers I would want to be sure we gave them a) the respect they deserve and b) not pension them off before their time (remember that is what McCartney was doing to Boyd, Morris etc two years ago).

Its also a bit of an urban myth that hawthorn make no recruiting mistakes, sure they took a punt on Burgoyne but its not like he wasnt a star at Port just that he had some injury concerns. Hows that trade for Jono O Rouarke looking now?

Got his missus (WA girl) pregnant and wanted to move home as they had no support systems in NSW and brought out the depression/homesick card

I know you take the piss out of many things on here (in a good sense), but we have to back ourselves to man manage him well enough that he wants to stay with us.

Agree lets back ourselves and you never know what 12 months can do I cant see the point in trading now unless it was an offer too good to refuse.

Haven't followed closely draft prospects this year was to busy with winning premiership and celebrations. If we only use 3 picks is 43 about right for Ben Long? Also means R Smith and B Lynch don't go to main list yet I think. Hannan and Nash possibly Russell most likely if we want them on AFL list to be rookied. Out of these Hannan most likely to get rookied IMO.

Ok, I think I get what you're saying....

Over the next 3 months we need to find Marcus a good Victorian girl with a great family. Then we simply need to buy out all stock of various contraceptive options from all the chemists and supermarkets in the vicinity of his abode. 9 months later, he's got a permanent link to Victoria voila!

Bombers want a second round pick this year and Dees want to give them a future second round pick. This is a good opportunity for us to jump in.....

List spots are the limiting factor. We either need to upgrade our picks, or bank future picks. If St Kilda won't cough up a future third we have nothing else to gain from Koby. Same with Hrovat, although I'd prefer a future third.

I don't think Carlton do it. I think that pick is linked to some GWS spud in some capacity.

I feel Hrovat to North Melbourne is more realistic. Let's remember that they have had 4 player walk out the door with no currency. If I'm them I'm looking at a 2 for 1 deal with Hrovat.

If I'm North I'm splitting that first rounder that they own like we did for Dunks and Collins.

Yeah felt like a long shot. Gotta find a way to use up those later picks in some helpful fashion.
