Strategy Trade and List Management thread 4 (Be sure to huddle around your transitor radio at 11 am Edition)

Is the Stringer situation beyond repair?

  • The club clearly want him out the door.

  • This was just a shot across Jakes bow as a means of motivating him.

  • The club is clearly a rabble. Sack Macca!

  • This is just the first play in massive trade that we are not yet privy to.

  • This is a game of blink and Jake and Conners just blinked.

  • Its time to move on a negotiate the best deal we can.

  • I felt sad for Jake on that stage today.

  • We've warned you about creating polls Norm!

  • The Jack 'Armageddon option' Watts option

We should be unhappy with him as well.

He had an awful year and that's on him. Mature adults cop critical feedback on the chin and they push harder than ever to redeem themselves.

Don't throw the toys out of the cot, Jake. Come back in 2018 and show everyone what you're made of.
Don't blame him if he's cracked it from trade talk. Has been loyal in extending early before.

Hopefully it's a bunch of people adding 2 and 2 and getting 57.

I'm attacking you coz everything you have said is complete bullshit

Jake is with his family is he? Which family is that?

Because his family live in the bush and Jake is in Melbourne tonight, check his housemates snapchat before you pretend to say where he is because that done proves you are talking crap.

Jake has an exit meeting last week CONFIRMED by Morris on SEN yesterday when he said he had his Friday and he was second last before Murph.

So again am I going to believe you or Jakes housemate and Dale Morris?

Why did you pick jakes meeeting out of the blue and then conveniently know a mate who is close to him? That not only knew but was willing to give you that info?

So if it looks like bullshit and smells like bullshit it's.......
Check his house mates snap chat...I'm not the stalking type.
Sleep tight goose, I'll say hi to him for you.

Don't want jake to go, I think he would be stupid to move, from what I've seen he is a fragile footballer, he doesn't handle pressure well. If he moves he will put a bigger target on his back.

If he is on his way, we better be getting into Kelly.

We need to work out that foward line quick smart. There isn't much fire power there, and it's fragile. Cramerie and clay smith better come back fit...

I'll repeat myself: EVEN IF all of this is true (which I highly doubt, but lets just assume for a second), that doesn't necessarily mean he will be traded - as a contracted player, all it takes is for another club to not offer him a lot more money than what he would be paid with us anyway next year, and/or us not to rate the trade assets that other clubs are offering, for either party to, even in the midst of a "falling out", be frank with the other party about wanting to enforce next year's contracts for these reasons, and it's amazing how sometimes squabbles like these can be quickly agreed to begrudgingly agree to have it pushed back 12 months once trade week and contract offers don't live up to what Stringer and/or the club are anticipating right now.

If he was an out of contract player - sure, different story. But both parties, the player and the club, have a leverage of sorts, that they can then use to have him playing for us against next year if they don't like how things pan out.

Again this is all assuming it's true, because no other journo seems to be backing up Barrett (yet).

Here's how I see it panning out.
  • Nothing from our football club will get said about the borderline slander the fans and members just had to cop on national TV from that absolute shitstain. Maybe because a lot of it is true.
  • They will then trade Stringer for a serviceable, yet overrated piece and a mid first round pick to a club that is actually run properly. The fans and members will then have to deal with watching Stringer be a very very good footballer somewhere else and probably win another premiership.
  • Dalrymple will probably hit on that first round pick to soften the blow slightly - we'll overrate that player to make ourselves feel better, but deep down we'll know we got absolute bummed in the deal.
  • Bontempelli, Beveridge, and the rest of our top line guys will have to wear being in a middle of the road outfit for most of their careers with the odd finals appearance because we couldn't manage the relationships with our star players that don't act like saints 100% of the time.
  • Clubs like Richmond will continue to sell more memberships a year ahead than our entire membership total, just by having a proper, organized administration who asks for money early and well from fans and sponsors, and we will continue to be members and fans of the cash-strapped battlers.
Ah to be a bulldog fan.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Stevo's tweet isn't actually saying anything or showing that he has some sort of corroborative knowledge?

He's just saying rumours have become thunder. That's true. There were rumours in the past, and by virtue of TFS, it's become thunder.

But he's not actually corroborating in any fashion whatsoever. I'd wait until it's from a source other than a journalist who quite famously hates our club because we don't facilitate his mud-ranking, bin-diving journalism before I start talking about microwaving memberships and which specific pick in the first round we could obtain.
Well I'd imagine the club would like to keep a lid on it. But if Stevo has heard it, he generally won't post bad things about dogs as an exclusive.

That he's heard similar, as have others earlier today, and him saying it's a big chance to happen, as did Barrett, then I'm pretty resigned to losing Jake.

Sure, there's a chance he could remain and it turns out fairytale like and it was the best foot up the backside Jake has ever had, but I think there's more chance that we just get burned by this at the trade table and score even less goals than Freo next year.

Already see Norf fans want to give us Goldstein and 21 for him. Yuck.

2014 offseason shook me to my core. i was physically distressed the afternoon Griff announced his trade request and it lingered for the next week and a half.

i have the same feeling that we are a bloody train wreck, but i just feel more calm than i did. like him interested, but because we jagged the flag, it's all a bit meh.

it's nice.

anyone else feel that way?
