Strategy Trade and List Management thread 4 (Be sure to huddle around your transitor radio at 11 am Edition)

Is the Stringer situation beyond repair?

  • The club clearly want him out the door.

  • This was just a shot across Jakes bow as a means of motivating him.

  • The club is clearly a rabble. Sack Macca!

  • This is just the first play in massive trade that we are not yet privy to.

  • This is a game of blink and Jake and Conners just blinked.

  • Its time to move on a negotiate the best deal we can.

  • I felt sad for Jake on that stage today.

  • We've warned you about creating polls Norm!

  • The Jack 'Armageddon option' Watts option

So from all that I've read and all that I've heard Jake is happy to stay but we a
Have said pull your head in or we will trade your a$$

So logically this says we are just putting a rocket up him and seeing if we can fish out a huge offer we may entertain otherwise we keep Jake and he knows he is on notice.

Not one report or individual has said Jake actually wants out, they have all said we will trade him but nothing about Jake wanting to go

As I said earlier he stays
Not what I've heard at all. He wants out.

I'm hearing this through someone else who spoke to a family member of one of the Dogs players Jake is very tight with. So hearing this second hand so don't shoot the messenger:

In jakes mind (unless there is a significant turn around) he is gone. He hasn't taken it well and not in a great head space

Will be Geelong or Essendon

Confirmed Beveridge is the one driving it

The players are filthy at Mitch Wallis for his comments.

Our only saving grace is that trade week is still 5 weeks away so there is time to kiss and make up.
If this is true, either Bevo really overstepped what is in the realms of decency, or Jake is being very thin skinned. Easier to imagine the latter, doubtful we will ever know. Unfortunately I think you're being highly optimistic on your last point.

He will be traded.. nothing more certain.
The sooner you get your head around that the better you'll feel.

No doubt he has been exciting to watch..and will always be a premiership immortal to the Bulldogs.

The fact remains that he has huge currency and will help us secure something more suited to our needs on field... as well as a change that could be immeasurable off field in terms of culture.

Will be best for both parties.. back the club in.. a suitable list changeover should be the focus here... not panic and a hope he stays..

I love how clubs want to offer us peanuts for a player they all think is over rated but are frothing to get?

Seriously if we actually trade Jake(and I will be f?cking furious if we do) and we get bent over I will be so pissed off

And what's the hell is with Bev this year? Has he gone full r3tard or what? If the rumour is true and he wants to trade his leading goal kicker what the faaark is wrong with him? He has had an awful year and he wants to put this cherry on top ?

When do we question what the hell they are doing and why is bloody Jake made te scapegoat ????
Take a spell.. so now your undermining the reigning premiership coach as well as clubs ability to make the right list calls.. all for a player who has been more show than go of late.. to be honest I was not suprised in slightest on clubs take... from afar it seems on the money..

Shocked by the news, and if bevo cant convince I'm not to sure hawthorn will look. But, for arguments sake, would the dogs supporter base be interested in a deal like this:

Frawley + 2018 1st (haw)
Stringer + 2018 2nd (wb)

Obviously it's an older player for a younger one, i just don't think hawks have the right young guy to make it work. So went with best player possible that i think improves the dogs list.

Really don't want Frawley but I'd be keen on your 2018 1st. Probably not enough on it's own though, considering you'll probably improve next year. Who could you see as steak knives? Leaving off our 2018 2nd.

Wouldn't think so mate. Frawley doesn't have much currency.

And if you guys get a spike back up the ladder next year as I expect and we go the other way, which is some chance, there wouldn't be a lot difference between your 1st and our 2nd.

Other factor at play is he is contracted so we will want overs, until he comes out saying he is demanding a trade. Then all bets are off

We'll probably get Trengove as a FA, why would we trade for Frawley?

We need to be very careful with looking to trade Jake.

This is one trade that may haunt us for a very long time and prove costly.

Bev's people and management skills will be put to the test.

You rarely trade a talent that Jake is you back yourself to get him right mentally and physically.

There was a period where Dustin M was shopped around and there were no takers and the Tiggers wanted him out and the rest is history.

Who here hasn't been given a few harsh home truths over the years? I think we all have. But, do we all crack the sads and throw the toys out of the cot?

If Jake doesn't have the maturity to accept that he had a really poor season and can't face criticism, that's his problem. Life is not all sunshine and roses and you're not going to get patted on the head all the time.

These are highly paid athletes and they're expected to prepare well and perform. Yes, they're human and they go through difficulties like all of us, but plenty of people go through difficulties and are still high performers in their jobs.

It just irks me that here we have a coach who has clearly had a gutful of an underperforming player and it has caused this response.

I hope Jake comes to his senses, cops it on the chin and has the best preseason of his life and puts on our jumper again in 2018.

Mate I hear what you are saying but just because Beveridge won the flag doesn't mean he can escape criticism

I'd like to back him in here, but I just can't cop trading out a guy with so much potential at his lowest point value wise. Just from a list management/ assets point of view it doesn't make sense.

A lot of it sits with jake, but you would also need to question why our club couldn't get the best out of him if he goes on to be a star somewhere else, which I have little doubt he will be.

I like that they are making a statement against guys who aren't putting in 100% (hopefully this includes Dahlhaus and Libba) but I also question how it got to this point

I see your point, but Jake is a grown man, not a spoilt 14-year-old brat.

Criticism is part of life. It's how you react and respond to that and the difficult times in life that reveal your true character.

Beveridge has had a mare of a year and now produced his own 2014 end of year

People need to stop defending him

So, it's all on the coach is it? The bloke performed miracles to lead us to a flag 12 months ago and had to deal with a bunch of players who had drunk too much of their own bath water and suddenly it's all on him.

Seriously, this is a ******* joke.

Is there another player in the AFL besides Heath Shaw that was pushed out by a club and has gone onto great heights with another club?
Most seem to have personal issues or complications come to light at next club.
Maybe the issues run deeper than those on the outside know and understand more than likely not just a pure game based football decision

No it's not "all on him".. but he's getting a free pass based on 2016 which is ridiculous.

He has made bad decision after bad decision this year

We know so little about what is going on there's no point slinging shit at either (or both) side right now. Although I guess that's what we do best here.

I fully trust Bevo to make the right call here 100%, but I hope he knows what he's doing. Forgetting about his on field ability (which I suspect to be top 5 in the league for at least a few good years) off field hes just as important, a team favourite in the change rooms, huge favourite with the kids and just all round marketing ability.

The club 100% needs to be seen as a clear winner in this trade, or it will hurt us big time, there's no two ways about it. Don't have a lot of confidence in Jmac but ffs if he can't get value out of a situation like this then he needs to go. This is where you earn your money, not signing happy players to 2 year extensions!

I just feel like if the club were genuinely serious about trading him they would have done it a lot differently, all we've done here is **** our strong position.

I still have hope this will all be mended but geez if it's not we absolutely cant be taking a late first rounder + fringe player ffs. Top 5 pick + player minimum. That's easily what he's worth and no other team would take less. Essendon or Geelong dont have that? Too bad better find it.

Not sure how we fix our forward line but **** surely we've got something in mind
