Strategy Trade and List Management thread 4 (Be sure to huddle around your transitor radio at 11 am Edition)

Is the Stringer situation beyond repair?

  • The club clearly want him out the door.

  • This was just a shot across Jakes bow as a means of motivating him.

  • The club is clearly a rabble. Sack Macca!

  • This is just the first play in massive trade that we are not yet privy to.

  • This is a game of blink and Jake and Conners just blinked.

  • Its time to move on a negotiate the best deal we can.

  • I felt sad for Jake on that stage today.

  • We've warned you about creating polls Norm!

  • The Jack 'Armageddon option' Watts option

Can we stop the "we want him out so we'll get bent over in a trade" thread??

Seriously. He's contracted, and he wants out. Not denying the coach wants him moved, but we have all the leverage here.
For once. It's a nice feeling, isn't it? Well, as nice a feeling as you can get while losing a limb.

What's your feel on if we don't get massive overs trade wise we won't be moving him? That's what I've been told by someone connected to the club, but I can't see Beveridge being open to having someone back who wants out

Maybe but the club apparently wants him out as well since they're shopping him around. And if that's the case then they might take unders .. especially since the frontrunners have nothing of value

Look in fighting in successful teams is common, prime example Leicester city last year, a lot of players grew big egos and caused dressing room disruption.
-man utd, ferige had to handle big egos (beckham, keane)

a few dogs players have grown big egos and think they can do what they want.
Its up to bevo to sort them out

Pick 3 from the cats??? Carlton own pick 3 and we won't be giving up Cameron Rayner for make stringer and risking what we've built so far.
Re-read. Wasn't saying I want pick 3 from the cats it was even if they had it they can stick it up their arses as I hate their smug self-righteous club. Blues can have stringer for free before I would want to send him to geelong.

....unless they direct swop Dangerfield :)

Different circumstances, but Marcus Adams wanted out. A few months later he signed an extended deal.

Just a thought but McCartney gave players brutal feedback, it was reported over the top feedback and the playing list turned on him.

Bev came on board by all reports is a people person, was pretty buddy buddy with the players got the group playing for him and each other.

Then 2017 happens, players need honest feedback and to know where things went wrong this year and now we have stringer unhappy and other players apparently unhappy according to rumours on here.

Just maybe we have a playing group that can't handle feedback, doesn't like to be told their failings and is a bit sooky. Maybe it's not always the coach.

Also if reports are true that stringer sooked it up over his exit interview telling him to work harder and be more professional why would he suddenly decide to work harder and be more professional elsewhere.
No one can seriously think the end of year reviews came as bombshells out of the blue to the players. The weekly game reviews each player has would surely have turned up the problems and solutions would have been asked for and discussed over and over. Shirley!

Not sure he actually wanted out though.

My understanding was he went to the club saying I'm a bit home sick if there is a trade that works for you guys I'm open to it. Club told him he was required and he was fine with it and moved on

Geez some are precious here. He doesn't continually get a free pass based on last year. That is a shit attitude to take
No, he doesn't get a free pass, but maybe the players underperformed this year.

Grow up, blaming the coach is exactly why we went without a flag for 62 years.

Mate, you need to relax a bit and re-read before posting. I've seen you refer twice to "offers" from clubs. There are none in the public domain, not any even purported in the media, not one. You are reacting to "offers/proposed trades" from opposition posters. I doubt any club would offer peanuts.
Call out opposition posters all you want if they post crap, but misrepresenting the situation doesn't help.
Cause I didn't mean people on here representing clubs and most people could work that out

Wow

Mitch Duncan will get it done
Funniest thing ive read on here... in no way does Mitch Duncan get it done... doesnt even get it halfway done...

I personally dont rate Duncan... we need outside polish/speed, key kalls or 1st Rd picks for leverage in my humble opinion... and Duncan does not add to our overall prospects for any of these.

Must have surprised a few as the last two hard reviews have ended in players sooking and having a cry over being told home truths.

I don't see why Jake would want to move to another club. Their coach is going to tell him the exact same thing about expectations. He isn't going to get a free run elsewhere. Stay with your mates and put in the hard yards.
But but but he is going to all of a sudden turn himself around and reach his full potential the moment he leaves

That would be the mature approach.

Best thing Jake can do is suck it up, get fairdinkum and have the best preseason possible come out and show the world the true package in 2018 and make us pay through the nose at the end of the year!
If I recall correctly, last pre-season he spent a lot of time running with Hunter. Doing extra gym sessions before official pre-season started with JJ. Building his tank, etc.

It seems his personality is very much like his play style coming in and out of games. He trains hard for a while then slacks off.
He also rarely really busts a gut the way players like Dahl and Macrae do. I wouldn't call him a downhill skier because he does turn on when under the pump, but to me, he seems to have that same type of attitude that downhill skiers have. When things get tough, he's not as commited to working hard to get through it unless the result is immediate.

That's just my take on it though.

Dalrymple was very keen on Cockatoo in his draft year apparently. If the cats were keen to offload him I imagine we would be interested.
Rumours we were keen on Blicavs a couple years back when he was coming out of contract. I imagine he would appeal to Beveridge as a ruckman.

How would people feel about those two?

I'd be ok with 2018 1st and Cockatoo
