Strategy Trade and List Management thread 4 (Be sure to huddle around your transitor radio at 11 am Edition)

Is the Stringer situation beyond repair?

  • The club clearly want him out the door.

  • This was just a shot across Jakes bow as a means of motivating him.

  • The club is clearly a rabble. Sack Macca!

  • This is just the first play in massive trade that we are not yet privy to.

  • This is a game of blink and Jake and Conners just blinked.

  • Its time to move on a negotiate the best deal we can.

  • I felt sad for Jake on that stage today.

  • We've warned you about creating polls Norm!

  • The Jack 'Armageddon option' Watts option

1. Crameri getting an offer if stringer leaves is great news.

2. This didn't come out at the exit meeting. The drink and jake have been off each other for much of the season. Gordon keen to try and repair it. Neither coach or player are interested at this stage.

3. Can anyone think of a quality player that might go to the suns (from any team)? Peter wright should be our target imo.

Clayton Oliver from the Dees would fit in well at Partytown, I mean GC.

Surely Kelly would be the number one focus if Stringer goes. Look at what Dangerfield did to Geelong, with Bontemkelly you have the number one midfield in the comp.

Don't see why we shouldn't have a red hot crack at him. We get Kelly, we move Bont to a resting CHF and we forget this whole little episode.

Libba might be a cultural fit at the Suns - but seriously can't think of anyone who'd willingly commit career suicide, unless the money was completely obscene like Ablett.

I'd prefer Lynch. Any reason you think Wright is more gettable?

And Crameri might just tell us get stuffed. Agree I'd rather keep if fit.

Would need to come from a Melbourne club if we're talking a 3 way deal.

Off the top of my head - perhaps Watts, Goldstein (although they already have Witts), Josh Bruce even? Robbie Tarrant if North are serious about Stringer? All probably terrible suggestions and bar Tarrant nowhere near equivalent to the trade value of Stringer or Wright.

Josh Kelly - MAKE IT HAPPEN
I think we have to be a chance, despite the lack of media talk until now. We have cap space - the Hurley and Lever money hasn't been taken by anyone yet, and if Stringer goes we'll have a warchest. Looks almost definite to be leaving the Giants too with Hopper, Whitfield etc signing, that's a sure sign they aren't saving cap space for him any more.

Some gross overestimation of his value going on ITT

2 late firsts, top 5 picks and Mitch Duncan not being worth half of his value? Ludicrous, and made even more so by the fact that you guys have acknowledged he and the club both want him gone.

Open market value at the moment would probably be a pick in the late teens/early twenties.
Now you sir have no idea.
I am willing to bet you now we get far better than that if he goes.

Watts and Witts sounds like a match made in heaven

I'm not surprised at the club's position on Stringer and happy that the discussion has taken place and Stringer is aware if doesn't lift his commitment to the Dogs he will be traded. I'm good with this and the ball is in Stringer's court.

What I'm very uncomfortable with is the total lack of confidentially and the numerous leaks from the club. It is not a good sign for any business to allow this personal information to be leaked. Even if the Club intentionally did this IMO it reflects poorly on our management of issues.
Has anything reported actually been confirmed as completely accurate? And who says it's the club leaking it? Wallis was interviewed on SEN, and he's speaking as a player, not an official.

If Stringer wants to leave, let him go. There will be a far worse effect if we do everything to keep a player who doesnt want to be there, than if we let him go and get fair compensation. In my opinion that fair compensation will come from a club where we can get a 2017, and 2018 first rounder, and they can have Stringer and 2018 2nd rounder. Make it happen, unless the man has a change of heart.
