Dogs out of Schache race

The Western Bulldogs have informed the Brisbane Lions they won't trade for key forward Josh Schache, The Courier Mail reports.

The 2016 premiers had inquired to find out what it would take to lure Schache back to Victoria, potentially using one of picks 25 and 30 they look set to receive from Essendon for Jake Stringer.

But the Bulldogs have since told the Lions they won’t trade for Schache.

The No.2 selection in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft, who signed a two-year contract extension in June, seems increasingly likely to stay in Brisbane.
I reckon Lions insisted on our 9 or potential 13 from Eagles so we pulled out.

I thought it was two second round picks? We'll have to wait for the details then. Still, one of our live picks is at 13 not both in the 80s and above.
Still it's a wasted list spot at a pick in the 80s generally then we need to make room for all the picks next year when we still have that pick in the 80s on the list

Difference between a straight swap for their first next year is we still have currency this trade period and draft.

To trade 9 and 28, we end up with 13 for this year meaning our next pick is 82. We have no way to get anything else done. Where as with 9 and 28 we could still get someone in and a decent pick
Let's just wait to see how the deal ends up - if it happens at all. You said if we end up with 2018 picks we lose. I'm saying maybe we do, maybe we don't. Let's wait until we know what the trade is and in the meantime not waste too much emotional energy and bag the club about it.

Where are the the 4 lists spots open for those? And id still rather top 11 player over 3 between 25-30 in a weak draft that drops remarkably after the top 12-15
Think that’s why we’re trying to package those second round picks to try and get West Coasts first rounder next year. It’s still a ordinary deal for Stringer and a poor result, but I’m still happy we didn’t accept Essendon’s initial deal

You mean the unproven Talia claims? Right.

GWS didn't have to get the deal more than us. Griffen wanted out. That's like suggesting Essendon need to get the deal done more than we do regarding Stringer. I believe we need to get rid of Stringer because his actions and his attitude are toxic to our list. Griffen would've been the same.

We finished seventh at the end of the day mate. 7 Friday night games, 2 of which were home are not that bad..
We won the premiership.

Gws needed to more than us everyone in afl knew that as they need players to want to go there, if a captain nominates them and they don't deal no one would nominate them again it's totally different to this years situation.

The talia incident was well known by everyone and the excuses were ridiculous

Can agree it's a poor deal, can't agree is better than the original deal

If we get west coast 1st round next year as a straight swap that is fine by me. They are saying we are getting west coast 1st this year and next year but giving up our 1st and 2nd this year as well as stringer. That is a massive massive loss and better of letting him sit out.
Why get upset and argue over hypothetic deals that are probably incorrect and haven't happened?

For the position this club is in with the players we have and the age of our list waiting another 12 months to get a player in and then waiting for him to develop to me is a loss, especially if it means we have zero currency this year other than downgrading our first rounder

If end up with draft picks and especially draft picks for next year we have lost and are acting like we are in rebuild mode
We are taking 2-3 picks to the draft, we traded for a player on the edge of our 22 and a best 22 player via free agency, we are cutting our losses early and lancing a boil that caused off-field issues in 2017. Looks like we are in top-up mode.

We already lost the Stringer situation when we couldn't rehabilitate him this year. That's on him, not us, but it's still a loss. We doubly lost the Stringer situation when the only club that was interested in him was Essendon. Not even St Kilda considered him.

The offer Essendon has lobbed is awful, but we obviously are going to trade him because we sadly won't have him back. That's on Jake, not us.

Lance a boil and move on. Jake's personal failings and inability to respond to feedback have cost us, and him, a very successful career here. We move on with less disharmony and anything salvaged is a bonus.

If you thought this was going to end well, you obviously weren't paying attention.

So your actual argument about us 'always being bent over' is that we didn't get Friday night games, Gave up Pick 6 in the Griffen deal and that we didn't.. do more about the Talia incident?

I tell you what, if you put those in a pile with all the other issues other sides have, I reckon we're not doing too bad.

Stop sooking, start supporting.

excerpt

There's been lukewarm reports suggesting Tom Campbell is considering outside interest after becoming concerned about the bevy of big men housed at the Kennel.

But his manager Scott Lucas says the 25-year-old will back himself in to compete with the likes of Jordan Roughead, Tom Boyd, youngster Tim English and newcomer Jackson Trengove and likely remain at the club.

"It's an interesting one, the ruck situation is unique in itself with clubs usually going with one genuine ruckman, so there are good second ones at clubs," Lucas told NAB AFL Trade Radio.

"There's been some interest, but most likely he'll remain at the Bulldogs.

"He's got a year to go on his contract and has a good chance to play a lot of games next year."

I've been supporting for years but Im sick of the club being weak and having no backbone. Now every fan and member has a right to be disappointed in aspects of a club they support, just like your entitled to follow them with blind faith, just because some one criticises the club doesn't mean they are supporting the club at times club stuff up and we are about to yet again due to being a push over

If the following deals happen;

Stringer for 25 + 30
25 + 28 + 30 for WCE pick 13

JMac must pack his bags and go!

From the beginning we said we wouldn't trade if the deal wasn't good (false).
The media have bagged us for dropping the ball on pick 11 for Stringer and 26 (true).
We will be accepting a lesser deal and doing all the work to achieve it. All we are proving is that we are a pushover during trade period, all our talk is worth nothing and we pay overs for players and accept unders for ours.
Dodo and the media will be laughing their heads off about all this, a little bit of pressure from player managers and a consistent narrative from journalists with an agenda and we don't stand up to it.
The ramifications of this will be ongoing. This was a test of our resolve and we have clearly failed. I will always support the club and by the time pre-season rolls around I will be optimistic about next year. However, this trade period has been terrible!

If Essendon and Connors had behaved professionally you could make that decision.

But to accept a dud trade from these clowns now is completely untenable.

It validates Connors and Dodo as geniuses. us as pussies and invites this kind of grand standing during the next trade period.

We have absolutely nothing to lose not trading Jake and much to gain.
If he sooks it up so be it - everyone is forced to grow up - he has one other option - to ship up

Either way - we are better off.
I don’t agree entirely about them looking like geniuses. The only thing they’ve done well at is calling our bluff about a first round pick or nothing for Stringer. Now we look silly for working our backsides off to get pick 13 from West Coast. Critics still out on Devon Smith and Saad will be handy for them.

Sorry mate but you are not making any sense. If I wanted an emotional tirade that shitcans the Bulldogs based on hypotheticals and worst case scenarios, well then I'd go and spend more time with the Essendon trolls on the Draft and Trading board. Get a grip man.

I have blind faith in an administration that 12 months ago won a flag?

Woops, my bad.

Is it a case we don't want to give up that much on Schache or we wont do a deal for pick 13?

IMO I would almost do Pick 13 for him.
I guess we fancy what we can get in the draft with 13 and there are also too many red flags with Schache to trade out of this years first round for him.

So are we probably done trading in players?

Our defence and midfield look alright. Less said about that forward line the better
JJ Adams Dale
Dickson Boyd Dahl

We could be seeing a forward line setup like this and rely on Biggs, Suckling, Williams, Crozier and Wood as our running HBF's next year. It's largely unproven but has the potentially to be absolutely deadly too.
