I love this club but we have gone so far backwards in 12 months its laughable.

And Bev has a lot of questions to answer coz he and he alone of the reason Jake is leaving and if we go backwards and Jake shines then what will people say then?
The only person responsible for Jake leaving the club is Jake himself. He knows what the reasons are.
Bevo has done the right thing for the club if we want to develop a longstanding culture.
No success comes to any organisation if tough calls can’t be made.

I agree with you on the trade. I don’t want to just accept anything. If we can’t get what we feel is appropriate then Jake has no option but to stay and deliver.
He has no choice.

It's painful reading so many bias posts here.

Stringer is so overrated. Always has been. He kicks bullshit goals out of his ass and everyone thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread.

When have you ever seen him take an overhead contested mark?
When have you seen him apply a block for a teammate?
When have you seen him bust his ass to apply pressure or create an opportunity for a teammate?

His off field and on field attitude sucks. He can't win an aerial contest and relies on using his brute strength at ground level to stand up in tackles and kick goals out of his ass every third week, but put a 30m wall in front of him when having a set shot and he will consistently miss the target.

He is inconsistent at being good but very consistent at being lazy.

He is poison.

If we somehow walk away with a pick 20 player for him, we are laughing.

I am staggered at suggestions that we would be the ones needing to sweeten the deal in a Stringer for Wood trade.

Wood is older then Stringer, very injury prone, has kicked 130 goals less and even in 2017 when Stringer was poor, Stringer averaged more goals and disposals. In what stratosphere is Woods value higher? I'll spew up if we trade him for Wood.
You won't have to spew. Norf wouldn't do it. I know stringer has more potential, clearly we all do.

However.....there is such sufficient challenge surrounding him that last years coach of the year and premiership coach decided he can't turn him around..... He won't have the value that 2015 suggests he should have. Unless McCartney is a genius and he clearly isn't. Wood has bags of talent and no issues except staying on the park. It's an almost even trade in my mind but north probably wouldn't take the risk.

This thread makes me want to gouge my ******* eyes out with an aids infected spoon ffs. Us providing salary cap relief to norf for doing us the favour of downgrading their 4 to 9 for Stringer? Us having to sweeten the deal for a straight swap of Mason Wood?

Shut. The. ****. Up
Relax. People have different views on things. Some are less experienced than others with less knowledge. The media having a million different stories also doesn't help.

If J-Mac, I don’t accept anything less than pick 11 and push for a pick next year to be thrown in also. I would also dangle picks 9 and 11 to see what offers I got. I would absolutely also look at pick 11 for Schache.

Gonna have to let yourself down gently doggies. Strings has let the club down badly, and we're not going to get value for him. It is what it is.
OK, Frank, let's say for the past two years you have been Stringer's agent. And you are now.

Q1. How would you have handled things in the last 2 years?

Q2. How would you handle things now?

I've heard that North have a few misgivings about Wood.

You don't win premierships by focusing on the weaknesses of your group.
Everyone has them in abundance.
You win by focusing on your strengths and minimizing your weaknesses.
We had weaknesses last year too.

We had both Stringer and Fletcher in the team but made it work.

Bev, some players, coaches and Stringer need to stop being being prima donnas and get to work doing what they are paid to do.

For years I read Bruins fans write the same sort of justifications for management trading away young immature forwards who score a lot of goals, but are lazy and act up, only to watch those players blossom in the right system and become the most powerful goal scorers in the league. Different sport, same level of physical commitment, same shit result.

I've seen my teams make dumb, shit trades before. This is another dumb, shit trade.

Even if we get the prime available asset of pick 4 in this draft straight up, which is basically zero chance, we're most likely losing this trade.

Ben Ainsworth
Clayton Oliver
Jarrod Pickett
Marcus Bontempelli
Jimmy Toumpas
Will Hoskin-Elliot
Andrew Gaff
Anthony Morabito
Hamish Hartlett
Cale Morton

That's the last 10 years of pick 4. There are 2 guys in there that will have better, more consistent careers than Stringer.

"Pick 20 player and we're laughing"? Not even close. You generally get guys like Hayden Crozier at pick 20, and most fans on here don't even want him for free.

"We have Dodoro, not only is Stringer already at Essendon, he's also already completely taken you guys to the cleaners at the trade table and gotten us a second rounder too. He's a seductive beast"

Essendope supporters are the biggest tools considering their club dragged the sport into disrepute

I think its the same person who also first starting talking about "destination clubs"
And we have a quarterback role and play offence and deefence. And hypothetical trade tragics using the term "money ball"

The Americanisation of our youth continues. But I pi55 myself laughing when a skinny 10yo white kid tries talking like a "gangsta".

So apparentley
Stringer to nominate Essendon. Dogs want pick 11 but Essendon think his worth second round pick
Watson thinks second late pick. BT laughs and says that's why Essendon get never get big players
Watson declared Stringer as "damaged goods"
So damaged that Watson's club is prepared to pay him $550k a year. Lol.

So we sack one bloke for not putting in when he has issues but bring another one in coz he has sooked it up having to play footy in QLD??

Oh no what an awful thing to have to do. Live in the sun and play footy must have been a nightmare.

Honestly does anyone see the hypocrisy in this???
I'm with you here MD , screams fragility to me.

The overrating of draft picks every trade period is staggering. Go through any draft and you'll barely find a quality player taken outside of the top ten.

Correct , let's take whatever we get ,
2nd rounder say , we might get most probably another Lucas Webb. ---- yippee !

dodoro is going to come out and say under no circumstances will 11 be involved.

We can’t afford to blink here, they have as much to lose as we do if they can’t land a big fish.

Unfortunately I think we end up accepting some pick swaps etc that sees us lose the trade, but I just hope we make a stand. He can sit on the sidelines for a year - you can’t lose these trades when the player is contracted.

By far the most revealing piece of media in this whole thing, was Luke darcy last nite on Talking Footy.

He was not happy about watson suggesting a late first for Jake. Rattled off that he was a pick 5, all Australian and premiership player. Kept going back to him being contracted and the dogs not taking unders.

Worth remembering that Darce headhunted the Drink. They are TIGHT.

Quite encouraged by that.

Everyone keeps saying that this years draft is shallow while next years is strong and we will also need points for West. Unless we are looking at bringing in someone that requires 2 high picks why would we even consider picks for this year, especially if the club is willing to be bent over.

If the club does not get what it wants we just let Stringer sit out the season or plays in the seconds. Lesson will be learnt by players and other clubs. I for one is sick of us being a club who gets smashed at the trade table and not respected.

Any pick lower than 11 is not worth it. Looks like pick 30 next year will be just as strong so we hold on to him and not play him or he comes back with his tail between his legs and does the right thing. Worst case scenario is we get nothing and he goes into the preseason draft, if so I would be happier with him going to a team who is not a threat than someone who screws us over.
