Man i would love Smith from GWS.

Also Crozier should be a good get. Will compete with Dunkley up forward?
Much more natural forward than Dunkley - the latter is a midfielder with some forward ability, Crozier is the opposite in my opinion. More competing with the likes of Dickson and Crameri (if he stays) for mine.

Jarrad Grant - serious question, worth a rookie spot? Can Bevo do anything with him? Played some of his best footy alongside Hall, younger than Dickson, foil for Cloke. Plus we need to get him to 100 games to nab any future microphones.

Or maybe just sign him up at Footscray?

Edit: cancel that, just looked at his performances at GCS. Footscray it is.

Nothing would make me happier than re-signing the great man. Play him one out in the square and clear out the rest of the forward line.

Sorry DR, these are so hard to answer. How much did connors know and when??!? Agents don't usually hide these things from a players club. They try and work hand in hand to work through it together.

His absolute priority is to put Jake in the best position possible to earn his next mega contract.

So he could have tried to engage the dogs on an early extension discussion. But we've seen with dusty, lever, Kelly etc what waiting can do to a players value. Plus the new CBA was to be done. So that was probably not an option.

From here, connors needs to decide for himself whether he thinks Jake can turn things around. If he thinks he can, I'd be signing the shortest deal possible with his new club, and getting him back on the market when he's in top form.
Thanks for the considered reply. Not an easy situation all round.

If connors thinks Jake is a lost cause (and many many in the industry think he is), then squeeze essendon for a 5 year, $3m deal and lock that in as quickly as you can.
Refer red bit - is that poor view of Stringer so deep and widespread?

He was Dally's choice in the draft, but got over ruled by Macca for Clay Smith.
So glad Macca over ruled on that one. Highly doubt Crozier would have played the finals series Clay did last year. It actually makes me sad in a way. No doubt in my mind Clay would be elite if he didnt do three knees.
