Because two years of headaches and babysitting if his head isn’t in the right space - will not be much fun for them.

That would be about right, 15 to 25 is about right for that player type. There are too many NGA's, Academies and father sons it
is getting hard to keep track of which players are open slather for everyone.

I suppose Cordy or Naughton can be pushed forward to play KPF if Schache is unavailable.

We probably land Ben King anyway so maybe not a huge dilemma.

I would think that even if we drafted Ben King he would need a couple of years before he is ready for AFL standard. His frame is just way too light. He looks skinnier than English was when he first was drafted. He will be a longer term prospect in my view. I wouldn’t expect him to be able to go straight into the Senior side like Naughton did this year.

No I agree. King is 3 year proposition of not more.

Let’s say hypothetically Schache plays 16 games next season. I’m happy for Naughton/Cordy to play 6 games up forward and Roberts/Young fills the hole down back.

In addition You probably can assume that for one or two games we only go with a smaller forward setup and Bont plays as a tall forward as such.

If we draft King at most he should at most only be needed for a couple of games.

If he progresses quicker that’s great. But I don’t see Schache, Boyd/English and King fitting into the same forward line.

Okay. Yes I agree and Naughton certainly showed some signs that he may be able to be a little bit of a swing man at times if needed, but I do prefer him in the backline. Cordy has proven he can swing forward also but is not really a marking option I don’t think.

I can definitely see the club drafting Ben King if he is available because he is skilful and looks flexible in terms of being able to play back, forward or even in the ruck if needed. Bevo loves that flexibility, but we would have to be prepared to wait at least 2-3 years to see anything I suspect, so definitely a longer term investment but with some of our older defenders retiring over the next few years and Boyd looking more like a ruck than a forward, King may be a good investment. I do like others if available but I wouldn’t be too upset if the club decided to take a punt on Ben King. He could be anything in a few years.
