Saints and GWS list managers look like they may be about to do a pick swap. Could get the ball rolling with the Bruce trade now that picks are starting to change hands
It's done. GWS now have 6 and 59 and St Kilda has 12 and 18.

1751 + 158 = 1909 points
vs
1268 + 985 = 2253 points

St Kilda gained the equivalent of Pick 45 in the deal.

Head recruiter changed but as far as I’m aware the overall scouting group hasn’t changed a bit. I think people put too much praise on Darymple, at the end of the day it’s his call sure but I dare say quite a few of the smokies which we’ve done so well (the likes of Bailey Williams playing local footy in SA etc) would have been presented to him by our scouts. Takes a lot more than one bloke to identify young talent from every league in the country.

seriously, @#$@ the smokies.

get your first two picks right. After a shaky start, Dalrymple was smashing those very important picks. The opposite of clayton, basically

The loophole Sydney used has been shut by the afl.

Well what I meant more doing is exactly what the Giants have done.

They have Green in their academy.

They traded 12 and 18 for 6 in the hope that a bid doesn't come for Green in top 5.
Means they walk away with a gun at Pick 6, and then use later picks in rounds 2,3 for Green.

Where keeping just pick 12 ans 18 meant they would have been used for Green had a bid come 6-10.

THIS IS WHAT THE DOGS HAVE TO TRY AND DO !! Sam Power you listening.
Easier said than done clearly but thats got to be the strategy in 2020.
Get inside where we think a bid going to come for Ugle.

Saints could have **** the bed here. These picks they have in the teens are no use to freo (they have Henry who is predicted to be bid around then) so those picks would be chewed up.

I think the saints will be super keen to get 13. 18 no use to freo.

Can we squeak something else from the saints.

13+32 for Bruce+Lonie+18. Or would we need to add something to get Lonie.

We'd have to add to get Bruce and Lonie.

I think 32 and 13 for Bruce and 18 gets it done.

Hopefully Sydney Swans bid on Green at 5...

Reckon the deal may well be Hill for 12 and next year's first.

Remember a few Freo posters were offering all manner of pick trades to get our 13, to use just before Henry gets bid on.

12 becomes that pick.

The 20% discount means they wouldn't need to match with pick 6. A bid would need to come at pick 3 for that.
They'd have to match with six but any points surplus would net them an extra pick later in the draft.

Likely Essendon has pick 5 - they need a big bodied mid.
