Holes that they or you think they have. Carlton issues are cultural, no trading fixes that
Holes their administration has admitted to having. Where's the evidence of cultural issues? Not every bottom feeder club has cultural issues, can just come down to poor coaching (Bolton), poor list management (SOS) or a variety of other reasons. They're not Adelaide

Just a thought for the day....

Is racism a one way street?

I ask as I’d hate to believe we aren’t able to attract aboriginal players because we have none on our list. Surely if a player was to choose another club for that reason that would be racist. After all, every player is being paid to do a job and playing the same game
academia decided long ago that marginalised groups can rely on and perpetuate the existence of race (a social construct) if it works for them. Theoretically it is because a simple equality of opportunity system is inherently still unequal as non marginalised groups start ahead/with better opportunity.

i'm of the view that in contemporary society we're doing the wrong thing by crystallizing our superficial differences by obsessing over ethnic/gender elements in our identities as we are much more than that. i also believe that history says correcting a wrong with another wrong will perpetuate wrongness.

all we can do as a society really is be mindful and sensitive to all other people and respect the particulars of every situation.

a good example would be the Ben Simmons crown casino thing. sounds like the security guards f***ed up, but if race doesn't exist, you quickly realise that they deserve a bit of sympathy. Simmons may well be ethnically aligned with historical injustice, but at the end of the day he's a rich kid on top of the world. these guards probably didn't have the priviledge of being politically correct, and we ask the wrong questions of ourselves as a society if we blame them for all of society's ills instead of giving them a better opportunity to be "woke".

the bulldogs should be mindful of creating a workplace that is inviting for all types. Indigenous talent is a resource we're not really capitalising on right now and that mindfulness should help us in changing that eventually. setting things in concrete/policy is when we get too attached to principles.

when in doubt, trust common sense

The evidence is the last 20 years.
What you or they think are holes in the playing list doesn’t mean they are correct and can be fixed via trading.

Bamblett didn’t come to us to finish his career - he was in his early 20s.
Thorpe wasn’t old either, and Djerkurra definitely wasn’t.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, McLean left due to a contract dispute, have heard him say he would have stayed otherwise.
Didn’t say about their age, just where they finished up. Was tongue in check as people drawing a long bow with racism

There is a difference between racism and prejudice. Racism is systemic and institutionalised oppression based on ethnicity (i.e parliaments ordering the removal of indigenous children from their families for assimilation). What you're talking about is prejudice, which may be racial in nature, however, it isn't anything close to racism.

FWIW I had a brief conversation with this person who I cannot name but knows what they talking about, and they said that our club is not viewed not favourably by indigenous players. Take that as you will.

Does not viewed not favourably mean favourably?

A lot of long bows being drawn here

I’d love us to get Eddie Betts for a year or two. I think he’d kick a bag of goals for us and would mentor our small forwards immensely! Why isn’t anyone mentioning Eddie?

Maybe he's cooked - they did drop him after a string of below par matches.

How do we fix the scourge of indigenous racism crippling our club?

His age would be the main reason where a young side that are looking ahead most likely need someone who can last a 4-5 years as a recruit only 1-2 is not what we need at the moment.

Didn’t Will Minson get in trouble for racial vilification?
I think that was just mentioning Daniel Pearce's mum, nothing race related as far as i can remember
One of the Cornes, Kane I think, had a sick child and Silly Willy told him he should be home looking after him/her. Talk about a brain fade.
