You don't need to read it and you certainly don't need to engage
Sorry dude,it wasn't a dig,I'm just curious why you do it.
I get it when you said you had childhood trauma from Brisbane, but you update us on every single club.

Why do you constantly need to share the going ons of every other clubs board?

This is the WB Trade & List Management Thread. Bruce is a hot topic. Doggy is engaging in opposition research. The reactions of their supporters to the situation is informative.

Thanks Doggy, really enjoying your posts...and it may have been me that got them mashing the report button. Sorry. :)

Cedric Cox burst on to the scene after moving from Halls Creek in the Kimberley Region of West Australia to
Camperdown in Country Victoria where he caught the attention of the North Ballarat Rebels. Worked in the
local bakery came to Victoria to get drafted.

I was hooked when I learned he was a mate of JU-H's but to find out he " worked in the local bakery " !!!!
I'm sold, pick 13 it is.

Interesting to see what happens... obviously the media don't think he goes that high (see Barrett who just said late 2nd or even 3rd - which doesn't seem right) ...

Don't agree and don't understand. What is the problem? Doggy's posts are on topic and informative.
Not really, picking delusional posts from an opposition board and just posting them here adds nothing. All clubs have dum posters, he’s not posting any of the decent suggestions or chat from that board. Each to their own I guess.

As a matter of interest, would you regard Cox as having more of a future at Brisbane than Ben Keays who can't seem to get a regular game either? Coincidentally, both were highly rated juniors and both taken at pick 24 in successive drafts? Also, is Ben Keays still out of contract?

Keays is out of contract but had a great NEAFL season but only made it to AFL level a couple of times. He is too good for NEAFL but can’t seem to stay at AFL level consistently. Now quite an experienced player. Well liked at the club but might be looking for more opportunity given he is out of contract. He would be good depth for us.

I think Cox has a higher ceiling than Keays but my preference would be to keep both.

Apparently North and Bombers front runners for Howard. We've been mentioned as an interested team, but off the pace compared to those two. Apparently Howard prefers North. Essendon next in line, also have one eye on Sam Pepper Powell, and could lose Fantasia

With pittard and polec there it probably suits him. Also will be a walk up start in the backline where he prefers instead of maybe being a forward at Dons.

Bruce is a KPF but not a premiership player. Stringer was a key medium forward but is younger. Don't see how Bruce can be valued higher trade wise.

We got picks 25 and 30 for Stringer (= pick 11 according to the points system). We held out and got the other high 2nd round pick for him. To me that indicates we had been clear to Essendon that we would walk away for just one 2nd round pick.

We must likewise be prepared to walk away from the Bruce deal. 13 is not on the table unless they can come up with a deal. This is difficult for them due to their dearth of picks. We currently have pick 32 + pick 43 = pick 19 in points. If that's not good enough for them, then we walk away.

I’m actually surprised the Pies aren’t chasing Bruce as they are screaming out for a key forward
I’d imagine it’s a salary cap issue. They’ve spent too much on high priced mids and not enough on KPP, a good list but very unbalanced.

I’d think they’d be very reluctant to spend $600k plus on another recruit with Grundys upcoming contract situation.

We would be crazy to walk away from the Bruce deal.
We should be able to tie Keath and Bruce into one deal, surely walking away isn't an option though.

People worry about being over tall! At least our 2 forwards (Bruce and Naughton) are in the top 10 for contested marks not tall spuds like some others.
Lol I hope so but reality is the ball is more often on the ground and it's easier to spoil than take a contested grab. But your right, Naughton and Bruce is more than enough in the air. Naughton should be the one playing CHF running up the ground taking marks everywhere.

I think it's very disingenuous to suggest we can't play a 3 tall forward line. Look at the comparisons with the other best teams in the comp:

WB - Naughton, Bruce, Schache, English, Cordy, Keath, Young
Rich - Riewoldt, Lynch, Nankervis, Soldo, Grimes, Astbury, Rance (when healthy)
WCE - Kennedy, Darling, Hickey, Nicnat, McGovern, Barrass, Schofield
GWS - Cameron, Finlayson, Himmelberg, Mumford, Davis, Corr, Taylor
Lions - Hipwood, McStay, McInerney, Martin, Andrews, Adams, Gardiner

Collingwood & Geelong are the two that don't play a 3rd KPF and that's because they don't have another quality player to fill that role. We likely will only play 2 genuine KPD in the team, at least while Wood is still an AFL standard player.

It's about pressure, 3 talls in a final and its game over. only Naughton is decent enough at applying pressure. All those teams have elite small forwards as well.

Schache will get games but imo he is an excellent depth player who is first in for a Key forward spot. If Schache plays its at the expense of a specialist small forward and then we end up with mids playing that role which we need to get away from

What do we do with Schache, Bruce and Naughton all in the same forward line.
They may not all play together, but for the first time in a while we would have some depth and options to choose from in the tall forward department.

Competition for spots in the 22 is a good thing. Over the years we have played plenty of tall forwards whose form did not necessarily warrant selection.

Even if the Saints hold out for a pick 13 straight swap? That's ok we all value these potential recruitments differently.
