I have read several posts stating this and I had to really test my memory to see how valid this opinion was. I admit that his kicking style is not classical (but it is certainly more so than Dunkley's), however, from what I have seen, he is at least a long kick and a good snap at goal. Further, whatever technical detail may be missing he easily makes up for it in other skills: speed, hand-balling etc. In summary, I think "woeful" dramatically overstates it.
There are several highlights clips of Treloar on Youtube to help people make their own assessment.

i think another thing he adds to our midfield besides the speed factor is he can actually kick goals

I’m talking about Phillips. I agree Treloars poor kicking has been overstated.
Yes, I just realised, after checking, that you were debating Phillips' disposal. My bad. I'll keep the main argument re Treloar and edit my original post.

Treloar and Smith as dual tough, burst mids who kick goals. Libba and Macrae the grunt, classy hand ballers setting those two up to break packs open and Bont just being Bont. That’s a seriously good midfield group.

No way should we be sending a first round pick to Collingwood for Treloar. If he’s prepared to renegotiate his contract then he’s doing Collingwood a massive favour to get the deal done. We don’t then reward the Pies with a first rounder.

I’d be annoyed if we handed over anymore than a 3rd rounder. He’s not a position of need and the Pies have backed themselves into a corner. Either we make out like bandits or move on to more pressing areas of concern.
It’s a sliding scale.

Take on his whole contract terms then you get him for a future 5th rounder.

Wanting the pies to pay say ~300k then a mid-first rounder is going to be needed.

And then there’s a heap of permutations in between.

Let’s be honest hes Exactly what we need. Just depends how we would juggle our mids. I don’t want it impacting smiths minutes.

It is but Dunkley is still the best defensively at stopping the opposition getting out the other way. A decent ruck should help as well.

Has Tom even considered the Bulldogs in this scenario? If he has its seems to be barely in passing and of no real consequence to him

Collingwood want Treleor off their books and dont really care where he goes and Essendon desperately want Dunkley on theirs, so we should just accomodate their wishes?

He really needs to go back to signing off conveyancing contracts at MinterEllison. Because judging by his recent tweets his dad isnt going to be able to help him transition into 3rd career as a list manager.

Yeah for sure, but Libba, Macrae and Bont are pretty strong defensively too. Would have to be a shift in mindset for Treloar & Baz that they can’t both just run offensively at every stoppage. Maybe one start in a defensive position and one start offensive. At least this way we’ve got pace to cover the exits and stop them getting out the other way too, as usually oppo mids stream past our slow group.

Good ruckman is absolutely key too

Blues are likely to push him through pre season draft at this rate. They offered up 8 but want 48 in return I think that's more then reasonable
Blues should just do what Bombers did to us when we wanted 11 For Stringer. Split it into two later picks. That’s what Dodo would do again if he wanted a Blues player and they wanted 8.

"What the Dogs want" doesn't suit the narrative.

Media flogs will flog. ..

They're trying to do that with lions but dodo got ahead of them and offered 7 for those picks apparently

Would people rather Tippa or Stephenson? Stephenson for me.
Different players but so no reason we can’t have both. Together they’d change the whole dynamic of our forward line. Partnered with Wally and Vanders that bunch of small forwards has just about everything. Marking power, speed, plenty of defensive pressure, xfactor, finishing ability.

Incredibly reasonable. How the fu** Dodo could hold that up over pick 48 is beyond me. Just get it done you ******* spanner.
He’s already turned down 28 for Fantasia as well. Both of those deals should be done and dusted to allow them to concentrate on Caldwell and Dunkley. It’s bizarre.
