He’s already turned down 28 for Fantasia as well. Both of those deals should be done and dusted to allow them to concentrate on Caldwell and Dunkley. It’s bizarre.
The Fantasia deal shocks me more than anything. How on Earth is he worth anything more than a pick in the 40s? Even then, that's generous.

Saad + Fantasia + Pick 48 for Pick 8 + Pick 28 is a fantastic result for Essendon, and pays for a good chunk of a Dunkley trade as it is. No idea why they'd hold it up

Would people rather Tippa or Stephenson? Stephenson for me.
If we’re comfortable around Stephenson alleged behavior issues and the impact of the glandular fever then Stephenson BUT they are 2 massive red flags. Losing 10kg to glandular fever is nothing to joke about as it can impact for years.
I think AMT would be very different beast in our team to what you’ve seen this season. Very marketable as well.

I know it’s doubtful but if Saad walks to the PSD and Fantasia gets them a 2nd rounder (most likely anyway)- does a deal struggle to get done?
Not if we are steadfast on their 7 & 8 being the trade for him.
As long as we know we can deal with North for that plus a future 2nd for pick 2

Deal 1
Out - Dunkley
In - Pick 7 and Tippa

Deal 2
Out - pick, 7, pick 14, 2021 2nd, Dale
In - treloar, Stephenson, pies 2021 first, pick 39

So we effectively swap 1sts and 2nds, then pick 7 and Dale for Stephenson and treloar.

Would leave us with 2 2021 first rounders. We’d need to wrangle some more points for JUH. We’d only have 39, 41 and 54

I think deal 2 is perfect [emoji108]

Seems I am in the minority and no AFL club is banging my door down to be a talent scout but I am not sharing the love when it comes to Tippa. When he is on he is on I agree but those occasions IMO are far too rare. There are numerous lengthy periods of absolute nothingness.
But he is at a shit club with less scoring potential than a one legged man on a soccer field. At the feet of Naughts, Bruce and JUH and with the support pressure of Wallis and Hannan he doesn't need to shine all the time but just needs to work to a system.

Treloar and Smith as dual tough, burst mids who kick goals. Libba and Macrae the grunt, classy hand ballers setting those two up to break packs open and Bont just being Bont. That’s a seriously good midfield group.

Particularly if you add in someone can actually win a ruck contest....

I'm really concerned about the last two years of Treloar's contract. $900k for a 31-32 year old is a huge risk

I’m talking about Phillips. I agree Treloars poor kicking has been overstated.
Treloars kicking is better than Baz's kicking. Midfielders like them have poor kicking often due to frenetic style that they play. Not many kids have great kicking efficiency. Even Chris Judd could cough it up and he was a similar style mid.

I thought it was just 900k for 2021? Also no way we pay all of it, surely. Unless they gave him to us for free.
Rumoured to be back ended, and there are 5 years to go.

It's a monster. Collingwood better make it a really good deal before we even consider it

Why? He's a gun, we have cap room and Collingwood will pay a chunk
They will pay a chunk next year. Not in 2024 and 2025. He's contacted for 5 years, that's why I expressed concern about the last two years of his contact when he'll be over 30.

Treloar has dodgy hamstrings, his family will be in Queensland, he doesn't really want to come to the dogs, he will probably take plenty of Bailey Smith's midfield minutes, he is on a massively inflated contract and is a dodgy kick.
Why would we accept losing Dunkley to bring him in?
Because, at this time he's a better player than all our kids other than Jack and Bont. His hamstring issue is overblown in my opinion, he's been pretty durable overall and is a POD mid we need.

Re-negotiate and front end it with Pies chipping in obviously.
It would want to be a lot of chipping in, preferably in 2022 as well. How much football do we think he'll play as a 32 year old? We'll be carrying the can in a few years' time
