The list at the Kennel is in good shape now and going forward.

The addition of JUH and Darcy over the last two years is awesome considering where we finished.

I have been a critic of our ruck situation but I believe Sweet been offered 2 years is a clear indication to him to take the number 1 ruck spot.

I hope we get a specialist ruck coach I think this will have an impact.

Now to finish the job get some astute assistant coaches.

If someone had told me that by the end of trade period the bulldogs ruck division would be weaker than the 2021 season I’d have been gobsmacked. Yet here we are!

Dunkley, Hannan and Bont better get some tap work in over the summer.

Not sure you can say it's weaker, definitely not stronger unless Sweet improves quickly

We could do worse, or nothing at all. He was always a good tap ruckman.

I know Bevo wants versatility, but sometimes in the last few years (hell, since Minson was pushed out really) all we’ve needed every now and then is for someone to hold their own in the ruck for a while

Clubs not really rating this upcoming draft as well

Very hard to rate this draft class with such limited football having been played. Probably top 10 or so pick themselves dependant on individual club needs but after that a real lottery.

I’m pretty disappointed with that trade period.

Hope Martin can keep fit and/or Sweet improves significantly next season.

I don’t understand how we came to the view that it was adequate to rely on 35 y/o whose body has broken down and a 3 gamer who wasn’t picked late in the season when were desperate for a ruck.

We need English forward while we are without Bruce.

I understand why we lost Lipinski, and I don’t think we could have done much about it, but I hope this isn’t our Josh Kennedy (Hawks to Sydney for opportunities) moment!

Bit awkward for the Hawks, having their president promise tough decisions and the coach trying to offer up all of their senior players only for it to result in a stagnant list with a change of 2nd stringer ruckman the only move (besides losing a best 22 defender to us). Oops.

The list is definitely stronger now than it was before the trade period, the impact O'Brien will have will surprise a few.

The logic I hope for next year is to stick with Sweet as the number one ruck which he's capable of doing, but the risk of going back to English or hoping Martin's body defies age is a staggering situation to be in.

This Hill situation is seriously dodgy, if he’s had the offer in front of him for a month and knew he was taking it why has it come up half way through trade period with GWS scrambling to find a replacement. Might be my hate of Essendon filtering through but would not surprise me if this was a deliberate ploy by Essendon/Hills management to do it last minute in the hope of rattling GWS and assuming Jmac will just cave and take what he can get for him last minute, like he has form in doing - but surprisingly to everyone Jmacs sticking to his guns. The whole situation reeks tbh and from the outside it now looks like a genuine lose lose to GWS/Bummers. In my books that’s a big win

The only reason I would have kept Young was as a KPD. We will miss Young maybe not in the next 2 years but when he turns 25 and onwards.

The fact he’s gone I hope it means we play Sweet out of force as there are no other options.
A big pre season from him and I think he will be more than ok and we will be looking to extend his contract this time next year.

By that logic Dunkley being out injured weakend our ruck stocks this year.

Our ruck stocks are not great but Young going does not weaken them, Schache could have done as well and Darcy at 75kgs could not be much worse.
