Looks set to join the roos at this stage.
Given we're all but locked to grab Henry, I don't think we should be chasing a second non- contested disappointing first round pick anyway

I'd be going for another wing in the draft (ideally Lual) absolutely spoilt for choice. I don't see anyone that really suits us in the trade market.

First I'd try to move up to 4 to get Watson and leave enough capital to come back in to pick up Lual.

If this wasn't possible I'd trade out of this year's draft as much as possible and pick up De La Rue and Gothard late loading up on Futures to target next year's inside mids.

I would happily trade both of our firsts for future firsts IF we think we don’t get a KPD/elite Mid at the first of those picks. BUT I would also want other assets given to us in that trade. Eg. More Future picks (ideal), Late picks, players.
Current picks are always worth more than future picks. We should be looking to the rebuilding teams to gage their interest.

Don't think we can delay filling in our gaps with young talent, in the hope next years draft is better for MIDS. Last years draft was considered weak, but so far looks to be one of the better ones in years. This year was meant to be a super deep mega draft, but its not very deep at all, just KPP heavy at the top end. For all you know next years crop could flop over the next 12 months. And we'd have the same weaknesses on the list, just another year behind. I'd keep this years first personally.

It depends who you ask, if you are talking to someone like sheehan or Twomey they're always going to pump up the future draft because it is their job/good for bussines. The top 10 this year is as good as any we have seen previously arguably better then last year.

We need to fill gaps with young talent for sure but to me it makes sense to follow the trends of the draft, I guess you could say supply and demand.
This year there are quality talls (always in demand) which isn't a pressing need for us.
There is also alot of hybrid Fwd/Mid and Wings something we are crying out for and something we in my opinion need to aggressively target no matter the stage of the draft we are in.

We do need to rejuvenate our inside mid brigade but as a position that generally takes less time to develope I'm more then comfortable holding off for one more year and going hard for the best possible.
I'd like to use this next year to see the progress of our on ball brigade. Give B.Smith more regular time in there, let West, Garcia and even Williams if he stays some time inside to add grunt.

Even guys that we potentially draft like Lual and De La Rue have that potential to become Burst inside Midfielders in time.

Wilson would be very good for us too, long term wing but probably starts in that high half forward role.

Lual has the advantage of being a solid defender too so has multiple avenues to senior selection. I still think if he doesn't fire as a wingman at AFL level he could still very well be a very good small defender.

Can see him taking centre bounces like papley and kossie and rolling forward. Would be great to get

I completely agree with this. His best position is CHF. He would kill all ball movement as a chb

This! By keeping him deep we lose that advantage. Around the ground he is like a big midfielder. I would want see him even play some center square.

As a CHF he is much much harder to shut down - good luck stopping him around the ground - he gets to use his power more and I reckon - like Chris Grant his field kicking is much better than his goal kicking but in any event he should kick 50+ from CHF AND take 10+ marks a game up the ground. AND will be able to drop back in the defence hole is we get a momentum shift.

Lobb (the Darcy) square and JUH leading out to 50 can settle into these roles and provide real problems.

Is James Jordon a potential wing option? Haven't seen much of him but does he cover ground and can he kick?

Naughty rolling through a couple of centre bounces is something a lot of clubs would have trialled by now. Ie when we’re getting absolutely brutally beaten up by guys like Oliver, Trac, Newcombe ffs - why wouldn’t you send Naughty in there once or twice to **** campaigners up and try to get things swinging back our way.

We’re so devoid of any creativity in our coaching ranks

Has anyone watched this and can summarise?

CBF going through it

Just on trading back in, does that put us at a disadvantage? No one has to trade with us so can low ball us and we have to accept their offer? What is the incentive for them to make a “fair” offer?

Future 2nd has a bit of value, we would take a bit of loss to get the player we want now

You'd have to over pay to get back in for sure. A future first to get into the second, second to get into the third and so on. The other club needs to gain something from the trade.
I wouldn't normally advocate for it unless 1. There is a player that drops well below where you rank them.
2. You have a player like Croft tied to you that'd eat those picks otherwise.

In this case I'd say something like our first for a team on the slides future first (I'll say tigers) or lions pick for pies future first.
Then live trade which ever future first we think is likely higher for a pick in the early 20s for Lual.

If we trade up, then chances are we’ll be taking that player, Croft, and probably a couple players in the 50s with what’s left over. Possibly along with an FA or two like James Jordon.

There’s little chance our future second gets us a pick inside 30 this year, so don’t think it’s going to help with Lual. Club might look at it. Personally, think we should keep our draft hand intact next year, could be a bit to do.

If Williams leaves we might get an additional second, but that presumably would go to our Croft bid. Sweet might get us into the third round or a small upgrade on the Lions second, but again, Croft bid.

It'd cost a future first to trade back in for Lual.
