So let's see:
  • Lobb (allegedly) gone
  • Smith still rumours that he'll go, if not this year, next year
  • McDougall only states Naughton and English will be at the Dogs "in 2024", and every club has enquired about Naughton

- Bont and JUH currently on the phone to their managers?

The sky is falling, the sky is falling! (I'll give it another week before I decide if that is a sarcastic call... or one of resignation. 🤔)

(In spite of financial pressures, I managed to negotiate on the home front to extend our significant multi-membership outlay into 2024 - which will be my 51st consecutive year of membership. Also the last 28 years of that has been multiple social club, and also the past 25 reserved seats.

I will have a hard time justifying that outlay at home next year if all I do is come home after a 4-5 hour round trip from our home games seething and ranting, or yelling at the teev during interstate games.)
We might have to join a waiting list to become Pie’s members.

We're all only talking on hypotheticals here because Lobb has yet to be traded (although given the source who just mentioned it it looks likely) and his trade value is not yet known, but pointing towards a list of first year players and saying we didnt miss out on anything if such a scenario does eventuate is fairly ridiculous.
Well only 2 have played a game and there’s been nothing of note from the rest in the 2s

A player who can play forward, who gets shithouse ball kicked to him and a forward line that’s clogged 90% of the time.

A second ruck that we’ve lacked since Boyd.

A good coaching panel that has Marra, Naughton, Lobb at their disposal is kicking 100+ points most weeks and playing finals.

If it’s true - none of us should be happy

And the only player that can kick a goal from 50m plus.

So has that massive deficiency gone away?

Well actually yes the game has evolved where a Daniher or Van Rooyen are better chop out options to get them involved like a Naughton type for us

Lobb didn’t actually end up doing many of them for us

Ridiculous thing to say. They're a bunch of 18 year olds. We could have also done something else with said pick too.

As I said, if the final result is that we effectively burnt a 2nd round pick for no return of any value, it hurts. Moreso because we've been spending our other 2nd rounders in recent years on bid matching.

So we’ve gotten in someone to play a role we needed or could’ve had an unknown 18 year old that couldn’t get close to a game elsewhere and we are calling it a loss?

Why would we trade out a player who FINALLY can play second ruck for us?

Collingwood just won a premiership with Cox and Cameron FFS.

Who can’t mark over his head even when he has inches on his opponent and shows zero intensity. He just drifts through games apart from that switch in the last game that actually turned the game.

Who knew Rory Lobb was such we well loved player on here

I'm meh on Lobb leaving.

More embarrassing that we overpaid for him and he's gone inside 12 months. Complete opposite to the Grundy situation.

Board will implode if it goes down.

The Inbetweener will love this.
again it was 2 mid 30s picks was it a slight over pay sure but Christ Lobb leaving isn’t the reason for the board to go down

Yes, if he leaves within 12 months and the net result is one less 2nd round pick to use as we please. Absolutely it's a loss.

You minimising the abilities of a bunch of 18 year olds that you don't know anything about doesn't change that.

And if Darcy takes his game to the next level and was able to develop because Lobb was there to take the hits for this year is it still a loss?

You have to admit it looks pretty poor.

There were questions raised over why we would get him in the first place, we got him on a longish deal for a 29 year old, and he's gone in a year*.

*if it happens.

The cumulative picture of the club this year is shithouse.
