I’m not sure you’ll be swayed from your views, which given how inconsistent Jack has been over his career is fair enough, but genuinely he showed a lot down back this year.

I don’t think he’s the style of defender we need necessarily as I think he’s a younger Rory Lobb, but if a team can get him playing 20+ games down back it wouldn’t shock me if he were All Australian in 2026.
His body is more the major concern for me given the alleged contract value and length,

Don't think you can compare him to Lobb who has 12cm on him (To put in perspective he is just as close in size to Rhylee West as he is to Lobb)

Think he can be a good addition and am sure leaving Carlton will benefit him but am just overly cautious about a sizable overpay to bring him in

Serious question. When did Jack Silvagni become anything but the middling failson he's always been.
Seems like a Jackson Trengove move to me. But at least he had a best and fairest to his name.
Collingwood are welcome to him.

Some Youtube guy has done quite a few highlight edits for a number of his games this year.

Although Naughton was out of form, I think if any key defender across the comp put that game together, and played many more matches at a similar level, we'd be saying they're a rock solid player who would add to the team and be worth looking at.

If you think of some of the stinkers some of our taller fringe options have put in down back, I have little doubt that Silvagni on the list this year would have been the difference in a couple of close ones, which would have us top 4 right now with a shot at top 2.

Does that thinking apply for the next 4 years? Maybe not, his injury risk being the biggest factor.

Im certain you thought the same when we traded in Matt Kennedy. At least this will not cost any draft capital. He is solid, and like Kennedy at Carlton they have thrown him around for most of his career.

Kennedy had just come off his 2nd top 10 finish in 3 years in their BnF though Jack is still yet to finish top 10

Yeah and James O'Donnell took 11 marks and kept Walter to 5 touches against Gold Coast this year. But I don't think he deserves 800 grand a year and all this fuss either.

I'm not asking for outliers I'm asking for evidence he'll be any better than what we already have.
So he's had a maybe okayish season (still only 13 games) but he's 27 and has been ordinary his entire career before it.

Pass.

Kennedy was always a good player. I was more pissed we lost Macrae for him than anything else.

Hope team Silvagni aren't using the dogs as leverage for a better deal with Collingwood. Wouldn't be the first time.
I’ll just share this - word going around strongly in the last 24 hours is Silvagni has told Carlton this week of his intentions to join Collingwood.
This is apparently coming from a source who has played/worked at the Blues across the last 30 years.
Similar info is also coming from people ITK after last nights meeting at Pies HQ.

Again just sharing what I know but I’m certain he isn’t looking for more $$. It’s more of an environment thing.

Either way he can’t lose, both strong clubs.

Both are better than Leek Aleer who will probably earn that next year with St Kilda.

The market for KPDs is awfully thin.

What do you mean “environment thing”, just because you have more thugs and toothless supporters doesn’t make you a better environment.

Half your players are ageing fast, with many years of a compromised draft coming up, good luck with your environment.

Where did I say the Pies had a better environment than the Dogs? The facts are it’s not about money but more environment, that’s why he’s not going to sign on with Carlton. Clearly Pies and Dogs are attractive environments to play in. No need to get so personal.

If our club is ageing fast then I expect Silvagni to sign on the dotted line at Whitten Oval tomorrow.

Yet with Information like that why haven’t you shared it on your own board. Want and had a look and nothing
It was already shared to our board. The information from a Pies staff member was told directly to me, the same person who shared Bobby Hill isn’t playing this weekend, which is confirmed now.

What I’m saying is, it’s either Pies or Dogs. No using one club to squeeze more money out of the other. He has genuinely been considering the Dogs. This wasn’t to ruffle feathers, if my info was about Silvagni choosing the Dogs I would come here to share it also.

I wouldn’t even lose sleep with we did miss out on Silvagni I have my doubts about him was just asking a question you answered it so I will move on

Thanks for posting your info, hopefully we have a few defenders on our hit list and we move on to the next one.

Apologies for some of the needless hostility, thanks for sharing.
