I can go on and on Mof.

Jack Nielsen, Max Spencer, Oscar McDonald, Oscar Clavarino, Denver Grainger-Barrass, Emerson Jeka, Caleb Marchbank.

And you're assuming that Buss even gets to 50+ games which is part of the argument here that he may never reach that.
Your argument is massively flawed because it's based on nothing

Fact Jedd Busslinger is Jedd Busslinger and not any of the players you have mentioned

Unless you have a crystal ball bringing up all these hypotheticals is pointless and trying to "win" a random argument off hypotheticals is redundant

I'm fine with this. Then people should stop bringing up Dane Rampe and Sam Collins as Jedd Busslinger is not those players either.

All we have to go on is our visuals and output of form of Busslinger and his form was somewhat poor and his capabilities, skills and athleticism limited at AFL level.

Which one of those guys peaked at 20 though?
Quite a lot Mof. Players like Hugh Goddard and Harrison Macraedie who played almost all of their AFL games (and therefore by definition, was the peak of their AFL career) in their age 19-20 season.

Arty Jones 1 year contract confirmed :whitecheck:

Good on him, he showed he has another gear to go to IMO in 3 of his highest possession games at VFL level in round 5,6 and 7 this year before getting the call up to AFL level and badly doing his hammy. Had another good VFL game in the rout against Carlton and was excellent coming on as the sub yesterday. Hopefully there's another level to go to next season and he can cement himself as a dangerous fwd.

Croft down back for me.

Darcy and Naughts are too entrenched up forward and with Weightman/West and some other mids who are marking options pushing forward, Croft has the mobility and aggression to play a key defensive post.

Has to be trialled.
If they cant find anyone in the trade/draft period he has to be considered there I think.

Buss reminds me massively of Fletcher Roberts. In how he moves and his kicking. Not giving up on him just yet. Still think he’ll be interceptor but right now, it seems like we have 3 key backs who want that role and are so poor one on one.

Not a bad call, but watch Fletch stand up in the last quarter of the 2016 Prelim. The bloke had a heart. He gave a couple of plastics a bath. Hamling and Roberts as our key backs in 2016, how good was that? Throw Cordy into CHF and you realise that performance can be purely based between the ears, not so much on athleticism and skill.

If we move Croft down back, lose Jamarra and potentially Buku, the KPF cupboard starts to look a little bit thin doesn't it?

I was a huge advocate for Croft being a defender since his U18 year, looked to have all the traits (not mention the pedigree).

But after those two performances up forward this year, I can’t see us remotely considering the idea of shifting him back. Like Naughton back in 2019, I think the horse has bolted.

Can see us drafting a high upside utility late (the Gruzewski type) to hedge our bets, but I think Croft is officially a forward from here on

I'd be keeping him forward. Has showed good positioning and intent up there. And also athletic enough to play wing. He has barely played any form of defence in long time, and there is no saying he will be better down back. It's a case of, we are desperate down there, so fans are looking for anyone tall on our list to be forced back there. Since Naughton was always the call guy, Croft is the new one. I'd rather chase natural defenders than restart some kids development back at zero.

Yeah I'm not advocating for it personally. Just following the discussion.

He has every attribute for a serious defender. Maybe not the 1 on 1 lockdown type we need, but his speed paired with marking ability would be amazing down there.
