I’m no expert but I can’t understand how a player would pass a medical at one club and not the other. Surely there is a fairly similar process from one club to another.

Treloar surely wouldn’t have passed a medical when he first arrived. Soft tissue injuries were a common problem of his long before his arrival at whitten oval.

A lot of it is interpretation of past medical history

You done that pieman yet?
Naah.

As stated, not until Thursday at the earliest. I’m overseas and don’t have my laptop with me. Just filling in a few idle moments on my phone.😀

we should be going for Silvagni. Pay more if needed.

It’s a risk because of his injury history. That’s fine. If we don’t start taking some risks in an attempt to actually improve our weaknesses we won’t progress from being the Ninthmond of the 2020s.

There’s also the obvious free agency benefit to us, we don’t even have to give up a pick to get a player demonstrably better than most of our current backline.

The cost is all in cap space, which we more or less always have plenty of because we don’t get big fish. And if you win a flag, it isn’t an overpay - we should know that better than any other team given Tom Boyd.

I’d suggest we should go aggressively for Silvagni and still look at acquiring another good, experienced defender via trade. Even if it’s using our first round pick.

I’m not one who doesn’t believe in Buss, but relying on him and JoD in the context of this season was ridiculous. Neither of them are ready for where we need to be. And in terms of their own careers that’s fine. They may both still be good prospects. And Lobb may fall off a cliff at any time, given his age.

We need our own Barrass and Battle moves.

As much as I’d love butters, I think the priorities need to lie elsewhere. This ultimate dream of him in dogs colours should not supersede the pursuit of fixing our backline.

Target this area of the ground. Jordan Butts, Jack Silvagni and Jordan Ridley. Can we get at least 2 of them? Is there another rock solid medium/small defender we can add to replace JJ?

2 teams who have risen into the finals went hard last year at the table to target needs.

Crows got the depth and foot soldiers in neal-bullen, Peatling and cumming.

GCS needed speed and run of half back so they got noble and Rioli.

We need the same specific group targeting to fix one area of the ground.

Zero issues from my end on the club.
Dunkley is a money chaser. Two of his family members have actively messaged me on social media for posting about him negatively on Facebook lol. Fu**ing sook of a family.

And Baz is Baz. Arrogance can only last so long. His time will come.
a cousin of Dunkley’s messaged a mate though facebook and give him a new one. All he said that he was going to boo Dunkley and that’s it

We'd better pick up a couple of backs or we are going to be the same year after year. Silvagni, Balta, May, Butts, i dont care who but we need two of them to improve next year otherwise we will be talking about this same thing next year.

Was a big fan of fly.. he’s starting to get a little cringe..

He's such a smug p****. I hope they get smashed and thrown out in straight sets.

In the meantime, we have a few weeks to get ourselves together. Get Silvagni, pay him more than Collingwood are offering, get Butts started and get things moving.

I'd only be happy getting Silvagni if we get him reasonably cheap. I'm amazed at the recent hype, because I don't think it is warranted. No way would I want to see us give up a first rounder for him!
I prefer the idea of May, who has been an outstanding KPD over an extended period, plus we would likely get him for a reasonable price.

FWIW I'd also be happy to give Jones another year especially if actually play him. I remain convinced that had we brought him back into the side late in the year that we would have been much better off defensively.

Silvagni is an UFA

Did you watch Jones play in the VFL the last couple of games. He playing like Keath in his last couple of years. Well off the mark.
