VitalDread is that because we don’t want to do much or can’t do much (as in don’t have the trade assets or no ones available we want)
Mainly it's Butters or bust
Wouldn't be shocked if we trade out for future picks

If we can get Ridley in for less than just our first round pick I’d be keen but our pick is a bit too much for an injury prone player. If we can get his body right he’s absolutely worth it but yeah a big if.

Dogs linked to Tigers defender Tyler Young

I like Tylar Young, would be a good get.

Believe he had a really good 1v1 win % (at least at some point) which is impressive in that Tigers team. Decent rebounder and ball user for a tall too and cab intercept a bit. Good age to step right in for us and Tigers fans really don't want to lose him which is a good sign.

Wouldn't be the only answer, but bringing him and a Butts in could improve our KPDs a fair bit.

Yeah Ridley is a nice player when healthy, but that hasn't been too often of late. I believe he actually had a pretty good games played record before the last few years so hasn't always been injury prone, but would need to get his body right after the Bombers have wrecked him.

Saying that though, I think Essendon would ask a ton for him, so not a guy I would want to give up our 1st rounder for.

The FA system is definitely broken. It's a constant of players leaving bottom clubs to head to teams at the top of good contracts.

Brisbane will slightly overpay Draper and Essendon will receive a pick more than he's worth. In return Essendon will do Brisbane a solid and hand over Ridley.
Its working exactly as the AFLPA designed it to.

Gun players were ever going to go to a cellar dweller when they became eligible for FA.

They're always going to gravitate towards contenders. Where they get their cake and shove it in everybody else's face as well. They get their **** off big contract money and win premierships. Where if they went to a lower team they would only ever get the empty satisfaction of the former and never see the latter.

The only work around for this institutional roadblock for perceptually mid-tier teams like our is to nail the draft, development and niche recruitment of role players from other clubs. The downside to this is if you dont do this well you end up like Norf or Carlton stuck in a cycle of poor choices and on the bottom of teh ladder. Theres not much room for error for those of us who don't have the advantage of attracting then cream of the FA crop.

Clubs who are typically on the losing end of FA movements and stuck in a terrifying cycle of not ****ing up whatever band of compensation that the AFL in their infinite wisdom deign to hand out. Because its the easiest thing in the world to turn those magic beans into nothing much at all bar setting the club back years.

One month older the Ridley and 9 months younger then Silvagni.
Ridley is the best of the three (not exactly the type required though) but has only played 19 games in the past two years and will be the most expensive in terms of a trade.
Young and Silvagni also aren't exactly #1 lockdown types but given their price and the fact they're in the right age bracket (25-28) to bridge the gap in our defence I'd happily bring in one if not both.

Give me Ridley everyday of the week, great defender, people underestimate he’s one on one, would always do a good job on Naughts, gimme Ridley, May, and vlaustin, May with a fresh start I reckon he’ll go alright for a year or 2.

If we want another KPD option I’d rather us pick up a Blight as a DFA, 23 years old, has looked solid in his limited games with the Tigers since being picked up in last years MSD.

From Peel Thunder where we plucked Sellwood, seem to be mates.
