I'm being reliably told that we have some recruitment staff heading to Adelaide today :eyes:.

If/when I'm told more, you'll all be the first to know.
I’ll assume this is to meet with his management as as far as I’m aware he’s currently overseas?

Edit: Nevermind, I see it’s their best & fairest tonight. Love the timing of this, imagine if he wins it, has a meeting with us the next day and then announces he’s outta there 😅

Beautifully scripted, I'd say.

The Josh Dunkley method? Or did he announce he was leaving before he won our BnF?

I’ll be doing the Seinfeld happy dance….its the old desperate list management strategy

St Kilda seem to want to blow all their cap to prove to NWM that they can compete in the next 2 years.

Judging by who they are going after, I’m not exactly convinced it’s going to work.

If it doesn’t work, they’re going to be in football purgatory for the next 5-8 years.

i don’t hate this approach from the Saints.

They historically suck at drafting (though they did acquire Dalrymple last year to address this).

They have cap space and want to use it (spend it if you got it, Dogs).

They have NWM for 2 years and feel a sense of urgency to build a competitive team around him before he leaves.

It might backfire but they’re already in purgatory. They don’t have much to lose.

This trade period will set them up for the next 10 years

Having that many top talented players will draw other players
Finally they can use their warchest

The only top end talent they've signed or are rumoured to sign was already on their list and they've only got him for 2 more seasons.

I like the idea from the Saints. You can only stay in purgatory for so long. I think Silvagni is solid for them, given they lost Battle.

The problem is TDK isn’t much of an upgrade on Marshall and Ryan is a meh addition. I’m not sure there’s a great deal of improvement to come from these moves.

I think tdk is a good pickup but at a steep price and probably doesn’t make much difference as they had a good ruck already.

Liam Ryan hasn’t been great for a few years now don’t think he does much at the saints, leek aleer also hasn’t blown me away either not sure if he’s worth the salary and draft picks he will cost them

I think jsos is a smart pick up for them tho

Chances of getting Butters. This is my take from all the media talk to date

For Season 26

91% Stays
3% Dogs
3% Cats
3% Hawks

For 27

10% chance he stays
30% Dogs
30% Cats
30% Hawks

You could have been optimistic and given us 4% this year man

The problem at the Saints has always been their lack of A graders when topping up with these 10-18 type of players.

It's still a similar issue. The only ones I can see becoming top 30 players in the competition are Wanganeen-Milera (already is) & possibly De Koning. Although I'm off TDK after watching his soft efforts throughout the second half of the year trying to preserve his body. It's genuinely questionable whether TDK will have more of an impact than Marshall in 2026 (althought much better long term).

I'd be happy enough with either Tylar Young or Jordan Butts. Either of them play round 1 next year.

Then we have two small defenders to choose from (Bond/Budarick).

Take our first rounder to draft. Dovaston (small forward) or Greeves (midfielder) either be great additions to the club.

Phillipou, if he can stay in the paddock.
Wilkie is excellent too.

Wilkie is a gun but he will be 30 shortly.

Phillipou has talent but he's only shown elite form for 4 weeks in his entire career. We have a heap of young guys (Freijah, Hynes, Sanders etc.) that I'd take over him with his injury issues.
