Blight makes a lot of sense for the Eagles. Goes home and would slot into their round 1 team next year, I think he is still just a depth guy for us, behind Buss, JOD, Lobb etc.

JSOS the Aints Zaine Cordy replacement.

Sucks for them, though, to replace a Premiership and multiple finals winning player with someone from a tragic club with zero finals experience.

Blight has been one of the most reliable and consistent key backs in the VFL this season. Averages 8 marks per game. The main concern with him is that he played so many VFL games when the senior team was so poor. Still, one to consider I suppose.

Bullet dodge lmao. People were saying the same about Barrass last year with back concerns. Far out people happy to roll out the same tripe we dished up all year defensively.

God forbid we could actually land anyone worth getting.

These are Bonts last years and we continually sit on our hands. So disappointing.
Barrass premiership player and AA Silvagni never finished top 10 in a BnF not exactly comparing apples with apples

Injury was a concern for both but 1 produced good football the other less so

At what point is that a genuine conflict of interest?

JSOS has just been paid well above market value (and well above other offers) by his own father.
Stephen Silvagni wouldn't have the power to offer contracts without other senior football department leaders signing off on it.

If Saints want to pay overs, that's their problem.

Yeah he's solid and played well at VFL level I agree. Like you said though, sitting in the VFL when there was plenty of opportunity to play games at AFL level if he were really banging down the door and then just getting delisted by Richmond who know him best isn't a great sign. He'll get picked up by someone though and get another look I think, just for us I personally don't think he is a starting week 1 defender / upgrade to our current backs.

Good for him. Smells of his Dad abusing his position to get his son paid more than he is worth.

The Saints are also years out from having a contending team. Shows he was chasing money and not premierships. I don't want those types signing for us.

29 games over 4 years mate, that's what his played.
If we could of gotten him on pennies, you take it, not even close to what the Saints are offering.

Bigger fish to fry.

Silvagni would have been a great pickup at the rumoured $600k we were offering. Maybe even at $700k. Lets not pretend he wouldn't have improved us.

But if that $800-850k/5 years at the Saints is even remotely accurate, I'm glad we didn't try to compete with that. Insane money to spend on someone who is good but not elite, especially with his injury history.

Oh well, still nice to see a free agent choose a small Vic club when in competition with Collingwood. That practically never happens
