Would be sad - with that being said, if we can clear Jamarra off the books, his salary plus the 600K we've been paying Treloar essentially pays for Wilke from a cap perspective.

Would much prefer we target Young. We'll spend the entire trade period pissing about on Wilkie who still has two years left to go on his contract. Why would the Saints give up a Top 10 defender in the league?

And ultimately on the eve of the deadline, We'll panic and trade for another mediocre mid/Wing hybrid.

I will be sick if we do not keep Treloar on our list. He has bled red white and blue since coming over and loves our club to death, it would be an incredibly huge dishonour and disrespect towards him if we toss him out like Collingwood did.

This is the play for other clubs with St Kilda’s list now. As we saw with NWM and are seeing with Windhager, the Saints won’t be getting loyalty discounts from their current players.

The spending spree puts them in a tough position. The agents can really push them to match market and it’s a hard for them to justify refusing. The money is there.

Well the response right now is this and some laughing with a few crazy hypotheticals like - Darcy for Wilkie.

But there is next to no concern that anyone thinks this is genuine.

And even if it was, picks would be useless in this situation.

So the ask would be a gun player in return.

Would LOVE Wilkie, target #1 if we can shake him loose, even though will cost a ton by trade, have to do it.

Not to be a wet blanket but I can see his manager using us as leverage to get him a big extension / pay rise at the Saints. There may be enough disharmony there with B/C graders coming in over him on more money though, but we'll see. Don't want to get my hopes up.

Kind of sad, but also kind of expendable with our current list and position if it offsets trade cost + cap impact.

Plenty to play out from here, but good we are having a crack to try & shake someone loose.
