I'd be trading pick 10 for Broad and Vlastuin as a package deal and say have at it Richmond. Maybe throw in a Harvey Gallagher type too who has some small value and they might want to take a look at in comparing to their other young players.

I just think most clubs will always go another "runner" even when it turns to 5 on the bench. Having your Darcy's and Lobb's in the team helps for that second ruck spot, but I think Bevo would still then prefer a VDM / Arty Jones / Harmes etc to come in and give some run and play multiple positions.

Vlastuin is 32 by April and Broad is 33 by April as well

Musical chairs for a year hoping guys stay at the level and giving up a top 10 pick isn't going to help

They won't accept but a 2nd for Vlastuin

Sure, but then we have to accept that wevre building a key defensive stock over many years to win the flag and we're aiming to win 2027-8 flag more than 2026. But who knows when Bont will stop being the best player in the league. I'm much more inclined to feel like we don't need to draft yet another player as Hynes and Dolan were good for their first years relative to their draft slot.

Not sure how people can watch that and think Tim English was the problem. Darcy and Jackson is the best ruck combo in the AFL and I thought Tim competed fine - Jackson had an impact when he was forward but that was about it. Comparison between English and Darcy tonight:

English - Darcy
  • Disposals: 15 - 7
  • Marks: 6 - 1
  • Hitouts: 40 - 29
  • Tackles: 7 - 3
  • Clearances: 2 - 0
  • Score Involvements: 6 - 4
You cannot be serious....

Darcy took space in the ruck contest every time. There is more to the game than just stats. We got pushed off the ball way too easily and this was exactly what happened against the Hawks and Crows.

I would say Darcy was one of the 5 most influential players on the ground.

Jack Silvagni has told Blues he is leaving

Pies are still front runners

SEN and Fox both saying we need Steven May. Reckon he's what we need.
Of course they are. It's the laziest kind of list analysis and is much easier than looking through other teams developing talls who might be able to slot right in. Or looking at state league players who could do the same.

JFC. I just looked up the players Fox think we should look at and it's a list of high and low end players who almost universally have on thing in common. They're contracted with zero incentive for them or their club to move on.

The article of course is not helpful in suggesting a means by which the Dogs might get them out.

And yes. I understand that contracts dont mean what they used to.

Lets take a look at their suggestions.

1. The we have a better chance of dating Margot Robbie List.

Jacob Weitering. Contracted through 2026 or beyond.√
Callum Wilkie. Contracted through 2026 or beyond. √
Jack Buckley. Contracted through 2026 or beyond. √
Nick Vlaustin. Contracted through 2026 or beyond. √
Jordan Ridley. Contracted through 2026 or beyond. √
Jake Lever . Contracted through 2026 or beyond. √
Steven May. Contracted through 2026 or beyond. √
2. The 3am looking around for some company at a quickly emptying nightclub, list..

Jack Silvani. Most reports have him heading to Collingwood. But a realistic if unlikely option. But not one that engenders much enthusiasm given he's be an injury prone undersized KPD in a side in which this is THE ****ING ISSUE!
Charlie Ballard. Contracted to 2026 or beyond.√
Returning from an ACL and the risks that involves.
Jordon Butts. Contracted for 2026 or beyond√
He's be a sideways move and just another journeyman to add to the list. A realistic butt unappealing addition.
Nathan Broad. Contracted for 2026 √
At 32 he plans on retiring at the end of his contract as a one club player.
Anyways. He's a 3rd tall and has no place on a list that is already a ridiculous reach by unserious people.

When the club inevitably fails in its search for a KPD from lists like this. And the media and this board eviscerates them for their failings. People paying attention will understand why.

I would hope the dogs try to get the TDK compo from blues in the Buku trade. They will have to trade it because it risks a bid on Dean. So say buku 2026 first 29* 65* 69*. For pick 9 and future 3rd.
Buku has played 41 games in 7 seasons. There will be no 1st or 2nd round picks involved in any trade.

I'd say Carlton's pick 44 straight up is about right.

Also Oscar Allen has announced he is leaving and has nominated Brisbane who are still playing. Obviously no surprise there, but Silvagni may genuinely still be weighing up offers or his manager still trying to squeeze more money out of the situation before he commits somewhere.

Definitely could see the final point being a factor. Even if he might have made a decision of where he wants to go but knowing there is significant interest in him from multiple clubs, just holding off to get that $$ amount up

In what possible world would that be a smart plan? Why wouldn’t we use all 5 interchange players?
No idea.

I'm just repeating what Bevo has said on numerous occasions:

“I’m not going to circulate five players during the game. Four’s almost one too many, anyway, so you’re likely going to sit one down until you really need that player, but you could introduce that player for a quarter here and there and it creates a different angle,” Beveridge said.

This particular quote is from 2022 (whilst the sub was restricted to being an injury substitute) but he has maintained this view when ever asked about the sub in general.

Why?

A Stephen May is the exact type of player we need. If we could get 2 years out of him I would take it.

Just need to work out how to transform him from being an absolute nob-end.

😆
He us basically a cripple, slow and can't bend over.

A 2021 May yes was worth it.

If Jones could get through pre season he is an upgrade on May

If Steven May is the only option then I'd be happy to take the punt, but I'd like to know we've tried all other avenues first.

Not an optimist on that and I’d probably rather it was already, not keen to watch us do the same in an elimination final if we somehow got through
We'd play GWS if we got through though.

That's the most Bulldogs thing ever. Squeak into finals and get matched up against our bunnies. Who will ofc destroy us even though we owned them this season.

Watch Steven May’s match v Collingwood. He was either getting torched by his opponent, turning the ball over or spoiling a teammate in a better position. I’d be livid if we chased him. Do what others do and try for a decent contracted defender. If we shake hard enough one may fall out of the tree.
