My take from VFL yesterday was very impressed with Jacques, Hynes, Selwood and Dolan to some extent he just needs to hit puberty first and Hynes needs to get fitter

I’m still not sold on Busslinger he may get in good positions but geez he’s slow for someone his size it amazes me how slow he is!
I agree on Busslinger. However, I have posted I do not think he would make it, and he would have possibly been delisted by now if he was not a first round pick. Some posters accused me of being disloyal to the dogs and should be ashamed of the post.

I said the same thing about Dylan Addison and got the same response, as well as called immature
So don’t worry too much about it
As for Busslinger, if he was shorter I’d be more sold on him. His height just isn’t an asset to him though

Would love to see a 100m race between Kieran Collins, Buss and a turtle

First of all I am not sure whether Buss makes it, but having watched a hell of a lot of VFL and his games in the AFL he has a very strange running gate like he has severe shin splints.

Yet he is rarely exposed and often in the right position both offensively and defensively. He is getting stronger, but needs to get stronger again.

He has been more effective than Jones yet appears slower.

This year alone has averaged over 25 possessions and 7 marks a game.

His AFL stats accross the board are actually pretty solid with one of his full games having 11 1%s.

He is 21 and this was his second pre season. Is too much being read into a different running gate???

At the game on Saturday he was one of our better players and was named in our best 5, bot sure what many here expect in his development

Just to add some posters here are actively advocating going harder at VFL players from other clubs that Buss has significantly out performed. A bit strange

It’s definitely a concern and, IMO, will be his biggest hurdle to making it at senior level. His development isn’t the issue, but his lack of speed is. His gait is unusual, almost as if his hamstrings are a few inches too short. The common counter I keep seeing is comparisons to players like Weitering, which doesn’t hold up - he’s 20kg heavier than Buss. The fundamental laws of motion tells you that he ain’t getting any faster as he puts on size.

Yet if he was playing for another team there would be multiple posters here saying he is a player we should be targeting and if we didn't we would be negligent

Just posted similar before seeing yours. It’s interesting we’ve made similar observations. Definitely strange isn’t it.

How fast do we expect a FB to be?
It’s amplified in our system due to our zone and him not being able to work back and cover space.

If he was a gorilla full back who used his body it would be ok, but he’s an interceptor and in today’s game the interceptors need to have pace.

Hope it works out for him though. He has ability but has some question marks too.

Im pretty sure that the apocryphal story goes that it was the players who pushed for Jamarras inclusion.

Even in the context of Jamarras future. Im not sure why people are still arguing over yesterdays war and looking about for a scapegoat for a game that is a year in the past. A game that was lost for an infinite number of reasons all of which are being applied post facto. My favourite one is the one in which Rylee West would've made the difference, something that just ignores the indifferent form that saw him dropped from the side for the two games previous to the final. Yet here we are.

Trapped in yet another endless post season doom loop.
And West had a broken jaw too…this game is played above the shoulders too, that’s why I reckon the Jamarra thing had a big effect. Modern players are so fickle with emotions etc (not saying it’s right or wrong) but it doesn’t take much to be off by a percent or two and that’s enough to have a shocker

Addison was taken at pick 27 and was a 185cm utility. Not really sure that's apples and apples to Busslinger. He also played 93 games at AFL level, a pretty respectable career so I'm not even sure your example is working to illustrate your point.

And those numbers sre taking into account plenty of injuries. He would have played a fair fee more games

I wasn’t trying to compare the two players as much as I was agreeing how it’s unfair when you have a conflicting opinion to others that you’re disloyal to the club etc and using the time I had criticised Addison as an example to let the OP know to not take it too much to heart

Sorry if I phrased what I had previously said poorly
