I’m keen to see how the last touch rule impacts him. My impression is this will advantage rucks like Timmy who struggle to wrestle, but are highly mobile and can leap. If I was to guess, I think we see some change in the types of rucks who start performing well. Less of the immobile lumps, with a rise in impact of even guys like West Coast’s Bailey Williams
I'd give our first round pick for Marshall.

Marshall to geelong, called that a month ago![]()
Hey, he's just another one they've lured 'home' (even though he's from Portland, a 4 hour drive from Geelong).
Literally the entire AFL world was calling it months ago. It wasn’t a secret lolMarshall to geelong, called that a month ago![]()
Buderick and Ainsworth for Jamarra I could cope with.
He looks like he is going to break through shortly.Smith looks fine. Add 5 kgs this pre season and he is good to go. He is very impressive for a 19 year old.
Dear god no, even our 2nd is overs lolWould you part with our first for Budarick and Ainsworth?
Buderick is worth a F3 Ainsworth a 2nd at bestWould you part with our first for Budarick and Ainsworth? With maybe a second coming back?
Ainsworth is a very Essendope pickBuderick is worth a F3 Ainsworth a 2nd at best
I don't rate Ainsworth although we are linked to him every time his name comes up. He will be 28 next year and isn't a huge upgrade on McNeil, considering his cost it isn't worth the slight bump in performance.Buderick is worth a F3 Ainsworth a 2nd at best
They very nearly brought him in last time he was out of contract. Melbourne and Carlton would also fit.Ainsworth is a very Essendope pick
I've mentioned this previously, but English is the best ruckman at drawing free kicks. He knows the rules exceptionally well and it's an underrated part of his game. While most of the credit for this has to go to Stef Martin, his ruck craft has improved even more after adding Lade to our coaching team.People still obsessed with hIt out numbers. The most overrated stat in the game. Sure English isn't in the top 5 rucks in the league. But he is still better than more than half the league. Whilst his ruck contests could leave a little to desire at times. But how many rucks in the league can get 20 possessions in a game, drop back to defence and take an intercept mark, take a contested mark on the wing to escape defence, or go forward and kick a goal?
For the lack of ruck dominance at times, he makes up for it being useful around the ground. Some teams play with 21 men on the ground as their ruck is too slow to do much else than stat pad the hit outs.
English was really solid forward in early 2021 before Martin got injured and English got concussed.I did a bit of an experiment a year or 2 ago comparing English to Rory Lobb forward, but only pulling the data where English played with another recognisable ruck man - which really reduces the the number of games, but basically it was when he played in the same side as Stefan Martin and Jordan Sweet.
The results were pretty much like for like. Again, small sample size, but I remember after looking at the stats that I was pleasantly surprised.
True but you have to remember who is pulling there strings. They get a big pay day that comes with Bosses that expect news. The more controversial the better.Footy journalists are reaching new lows. Petracca, JUH and Oliver all followed at airports in the past few days because the journalists just want some junk they can talk about for days.
Would love to see how Cleary would react if he was treated the same way in reverse.
