sO DO iI miss Mucat and his Impressionist take on spelling. Absolute artistry.
Such a gutless club. If we let Jamarra go for a late 3rd and still pay his salary, what are we actually doing. Offloading a potential star to a team we will be competing against. If we don't use the salary to get Butters then no point offloading Jamarra. Ffs be ruthless, tell him he's staying and can rock up to training or sit out another year.
Its quite obvious we are a very reactive LM group. We don't get on the front foot. We wait until post season to start identifying talent required. By that point its too late (see Wilkie and Butts). The ground work needs to be done 18 months out.
Disappointing to roll out the same key defensive stocks in 2026.

Well, 3 posters isnt a big sample size so don’t be alarmed.Just dropping into the Gold Coast trade thread on their board, there doesn't seem to be too much sleep being lost over Budarick's departure. The general view is that we are being sold a bit of a lemon, particularly if we think that he will fill a role as a lockdown defender. Not a great read, if I'm to be honest.
He takes 4-5 kick outs a game getting cheapies to make them look less shitView attachment 2448153

I know stats aren’t everything but May’s numbers for the year have been pretty good compared to his career average.
If all else fails and we don’t have another key defender target that’s obtainable, I wouldn’t be against giving him a 1 or 2 year deal, provided he passes a medical and we can get his attitude stuff in check.
This is exactly why if Butters does request to come to us, you just pay the price.Let’s see what the next 2 weeks hold but looks like Buderick in and not much else at this stage.
If hawks land Merrett then you need to zoom out and go back to last years final:
Since then they’d have landed battle barrass and merrit v Kennedy (blues didn’t want him) and Buderick (while losing smith and jamarra)
We’re lucky our drafting and development has been Good because we’re getting torched at the trade / FA table.
You can probably look back at the Hawthorn board's feelings in 2018 about losing the bloke we're replacing with Budarick, and see similar thoughts.Just dropping into the Gold Coast trade thread on their board, there doesn't seem to be too much sleep being lost over Budarick's departure. I think we all know the answer to that. Why are the afl stepping in and suggesting they’d like to see Jamarra get another chance? Is it their job?
I wouldn’t say Sydney has much in terms of key defender depth. Can only hope, but my concern not many people talk about is the lack of leadership now that Jones is gone/went out of the side.
Sometimes it looks like our structure just falls apart and the players don’t know what to do as there is nobody to guide them to help out.
Lobb is an experienced player, but not an experienced defender. Then we have JOD & Buss, who are infants. Then it’s the next cab off the rank in Gardner, who has played about 50 games. Thats why I’d even take a broken Jake Lever instead of a cancerous Steven May.
I’m glad we identified the likes of Wilkie & Butts to address the glaring issue, but not being able to get anything done will be painful. Even Sydney are pretty well equipped for key backs, yet are still adding Serong. We’ve neglected the position for years, last year the Hawks nailed it and got 2 quality ones in.
Probably more than we have, which is GardnerI wouldn’t say Sydney has much in terms of key defender depth.
I fully concur, if he goes and we pay his salary that’s crazy and it’s still crazy if get a late third round pick as well.Such a gutless club. They have very similar stocks to us, McCartin, Melican, old balls Rampe and that’s it.Probably more than we have, which is Gardner

I detect the heavy hand of the AFL in all of this.Nothing on salary but I reckon we will due to Trac coming into Sun's
AFL will tick off a new structure for his contract I think
Are there any VFL/SA/WA full backs worth a risk? Anyone know?
We'd also be taking a close look at and talking endlessly about recruiting one of the VFL's preeminent KPB if he was playing for another side. The irony of people (justifiably) questioning the wisdom of giving Gardner 3 years since that contract was signed, is that if he were coming out of contract this year we'd probably just give him another 1 year deal as a proven VFL performer, good culture, break glass in case of injury key defender, given how few of them we actually have.
That is an idiotic lose/lose situation.I fully concur, if he goes and we pay his salary that’s crazy and it’s still crazy if get a late third round pick as well.
Play with the Dogs or don’t play.
