Agree on that but again him and JJ are different playersCoffield should be the first one delisted. His body isn't up to it and when he does play, looks slow and terrible.
We're much better off handing that list spot to a Derksen or Frost type on a short term deal. They might not pan out but Coffield sure as hell hasn't.
It might sound harsh but he's not a positive asset to have on the list in any form.
He played round 24, did you want to keep him on the list another season just for a send off?Poor form not to get a send off game for JJ. Should’ve been kept on as a rookie at the very least.
Coff / Poulter should be delisted ahead of him. (Perhaps they have also been cut)
When teams like Cats and Pies delisted someone this week the media have been running with chosen not to offer a contract. We cop the delist termhttps://x.com/cleary_mitch

Jason Johannisen has been delisted by the Western Bulldogs. The only Norm Smith medallist in club history.Writing was on the wall when the Dogs signed Connor Budarick. Still played 16 games this year. Open to playing on elsewhere

If he isn't picked up by another club, the AFL should allow long serving players to come on towards the end of a pre-season game at Whitten Oval and get a proper send off.Poor form not to get a send off game for JJ. Should’ve been kept on as a rookie at the very least.

Right. You don't really delist anyone, their contract just expires. When teams like Cats and Pies delisted someone this week the media have been running with chosen not to offer a contract. We cop the delist term
No reason why he can’t, can be a train on player, we played Brew and Crossley against Essendon. If he isn't picked up by another club, the AFL should allow long serving players to come on towards the end of a pre-season game at Whitten Oval and get a proper send off.
JJ can come on in the last quarter, get a few kicks and show a bit of dash before being chaired off.

Think he is more valuable in 2026 than any rookie we would add in this draft. Personally. He played round 24, did you want to keep him on the list another season just for a send off?
That's a valid opinion to hold, but I was more asking about your point that it was "poor form" not to give him a send off which is a different topic to whether he's still deserving of a spot next year or not.Think he is more valuable in 2026 than any rookie we would add in this draft. Personally.

More making the point if he was retained as a rookie (which was my preference) he would ideally get a send off which I believe he deserves (if possible), sometimes that’s not to be. Which I guess, is this case. That's a valid opinion to hold, but I was more asking about your point that it was "poor form" not to give him a send off which is a different topic to whether he's still deserving of a spot next year or not.
The club determined he's not required, so a send off wasn't possible - particularly when he was in the team in the final round rather than languishing in the reserves.
Agree that there are others that would likely take his spot next year (all things going well), just think he would’ve been worth keeping for one more for a mature back up option at the very least.Budarick will start and then there’s Sellwood and potential Jaques (depending where the team sees him) for depth.
Bramble went past JJ on form as well.
Having three half backs that can’t defend was an issue last year.

Understanding list spots are tight though.
What role does Coffield play? Small that's too slow or big that's not strong enough? He doesn't have a role. It's a shame because you can see he's still got the ability that meant he was a top 10 pick, but his body has cooked him.Why they play completely different roles
Also left out:
Tackles Lobb 1.6 May 0.8, Pressure Acts Lobb 7.4 May 4.6, Spoils Lobb 6.2 May 5.3, Contested Marks Lobb 1.3 May 1.1
Again shows how poor May performed this year on the actual defensive side of the game because his body has failed him
On this, I think you have to factor in his injury history. There is no point to a mature back up option that you can't rely on to be fit when back up is needed.just think he would’ve been worth keeping for one more for a mature back up option at the very least.
Surely thats the case with Coffield as well thenOn this, I think you have to factor in his injury history. There is no point to a mature back up option that you can't rely on to be fit when back up is needed.
