Any chance we pay out Gardner? Lovely guy but no point have a 30yo on the list who can’t play seniors. He is a genuine list clogger, taking vfl positions we can develop other in.
If we want a backup, get Frost.
That or a rookie?Yep, you’re right on both fronts. Learn something new everyday.
So effectively if Coffield is the last delisting it means we can only add one DFA, assuming we take 3 picks in the National Draft?
I'd say zero chances. If Gardner is just taking up a VFL position then Frost would be doing the same and is at best a sideways move if not slight downgrade.Any chance we pay out Gardner? Gardner is only 28. Doesn’t turn 30 until half way through the 2027 season.Any chance we pay out Gardner? Lovely guy but no point have a 30yo on the list who can’t play seniors. He is a genuine list clogger, taking vfl positions we can develop other in.

I have never been a Gardner fan, but thought he deserved a run of games this year. He was brilliant at vfl level.
His a confidence player and I think a run of games he’d of eventually carried his form over and we’d of been a better side for it in the long run.
I see a world where he plays a lot of football next year and he is serviceable in a contending team. He needs the right ground level players around him though as he a major liability at ground level.
Frost can at least play afl level. Downgrade? Frost isn’t a great option but was replaced by Barrass and BattleThat or a rookie?

I also don’t think the answer is one key defender, the answer is either a complete makeover of the back 6 all shapes and sizes or gameplan. I reckon Jaques and Budarick are certain starters round 1 26 (I watched a chunk of preseason last year and Jaques was the most impressive of the young guys before injury). Selwood a probable, looks a real compeitor. Gallagher would also be a chance at half back. Freijah could also go back if Treloar plays mid minutes.
And I’m convinced its supporters have less idea. None of the delisted guys are taking us to our next flag. Blind Freddy can see that mateI'm convinced this club has absolutely no idea what it's doing half the time
Doesn’t matter how many goals we concede, if we kick a bazillion ourselves right? Walker stays forwardBarely a third tall is how I would describe him too
The question is who comes in if Buss is injured for round 1 next year? Cleary played tall early this year and I think he looked far more comfortable defending smaller players than playing tall. Khamis is much better forward, I think he looks vulnerable back but he is an option. The other three haven't made their debut but not sure Jacques or Sellwood are playing tall, Walker looked very impressive forward in the VFL finals and could end up staying there. List needs say he needs to stay back but it hasn't stopped us before. If the answer is Gardner then I'd prefer the answer to be Coffield
I don't think he should be on an AFL list either but the way things are shaping up I could see him playing double digit games for us

Yes, but none of the guys we have recruited will either. And I’m convinced its supporters have less idea. None of the delisted guys are taking us to our next flag. Blind Freddy can see that mate
The problem is that lack of confidence is no longer an excuse. They're both older than 25 and have played plenty of AFL level football.Gardner & Coffield both have the same problem - lack of confidence.
Coffield takes the safe option and can't create with his kicks. He's always looking for someone else to take responsibility.
Gardner is just a rabbit in the headlights.
You could potentially solve Gardner's problem by giving him a run of 5 - 7 games but its a huge risk. Even if it succeeds , he'll never be more than good- serviceable. He might stifle the opposition but he won't be a creator.
Gardner is on the list , and may be called upon next year . Lobb is no spring chicken & JOD throws himself around.
If you are talking just this year then it’s Buderick. Give the. Like a chanceYes, but none of the guys we have recruited will either.
This ^VFL form is not a reliable indicator of AFL performance.
Ok my bad A 28yo that’s been in the system 9?years, not a viable backup and taking a spot of someone that may be.Gardner is only 28. Doesn’t turn 30 until half way through the 2027 season.
Who you kidding, Gardner has a lack of ability as wellGardner & Coffield both have the same problem - lack of confidence.

Gardner's a great guy around the club but he's clearly not a best 22 option. Coffield isn't best 22 either. We’ve gone from dreaming about Wilkie to convincing ourselves about Coffield and Gardner.
Post trade period sadness hits hard.
It’s easy to throw around list clogger but the reality is we need a back up kd in case buss goes down. Gardner is suitable backup.
What are you talking about?Who you kidding, Gardner has a lack of ability as well
