Friggen hilarious coming onto another teams board to brag about paying more money to keep a player that wanted out, after already paying way too much to keep NWM, not mention coughing up more for Windhager.

You just don't see good sides pulling moves like that, no way in hell this works out for them. Could potentially set them back even more. TDK and a couple new D graders aren't getting them into finals contention.

100% Yes we tried like we do every year but come up empty. We deserve a participation award. Strong clubs like Hawthorn don’t take no for an answer and get there man in the end no matter what it takes.

He's already contracted. They had to pay more money to an already contracted player. Kind of wild, isn't it?

Yep we desperately need someone to put on the oppositions best forward.

Getting someone instantly makes Lobb and JoD much better as they can play the 2nd and 3rd KPD roles.

Can Croft be a key back like his old man? A couple of years to fill out but reads the play and has courage and speed. Naughts also? I remember in one of his first games how he was put directly on to a rampaging Buddy … and made an impact.

List Managament 101:

Offer Finn Callaghan $17m over 10 years, don’t speak to him directly = good management / we had a crack.

Offer Callum Wilkie $1.2m for 4 years, talk to him, meet him face to face = dogs were never fair dinkum, dogs half assed it, done in spite for missing Silvagni, Power is an amatuer.

Kicked up a stink because we made and approach for one of their contracted players, when they literally do the same to other teams. And they have also been throwing many big money offers at players themselves, many that never eventuated either. One rule for them, and another for everyone else.

Now they are gloating. I mean you must be a miserable base if your only joy is gained from other teams shortcomings.

Also, it took extra money, not total loyalty for Wilkie to stay.

Now we need to throw some money at Butts to try and turn his head, and Buderick as well. It will help with two defensive issues. Still open to trading up for Gold Coasts pick 6 if we don't chase Butters this season. The draft may be weak, but there are some solid players inside the top 10 worth having a go at. Potentially even split the pick if someone is desperate enough for it come draft night.

Wilkie would have been another stop gap for a few years, we need someone younger who can set us up for 10 years.

Saints might regret this opportunity to get something for him, with the Devils drafts looming, but let them sort that out, and let’s focus on us.

It won't let me quote you. But thats why I preferred to chase Butts. I've made it clear a few times on this thread that we need to stop chasing stop gaps, that leaves us with the same issue time and time again. We need to start targeting mid 20's types, as well as stop our failings with drafting defenders and small forwards. Need to start hitting them, where we do well in other positions. Plus it shouldn't cost as as much draft capital.

This is the ridiculous part.

First things first, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Second, it was a COVID draft and most of the candidates had barely played all season, so it was more unreliable than most drafts.

They could have kept one pick and still had a gun mid join.

Not sure what we would have done given the JUH points situation etc but I doubt we were getting quality out of that draft.

Don't forget Weightman plays like a tall too. Very much a small key forward as opposed to a crumbing/pressure type

Croft back long term and Naughton and Darcy as the two pillars is the play.

If you knew the real.story of what we offered in trade you wouldn't say that. We couldn't have done anymore.

We were interest but got priced out much like with Jsos.
Im more then happy for power and co to set a price and stick to it, don't want to pay a C grader triple what they're worth just so it looks like we've done something.

I tend to agree. But with so many clubs at the bottom end with loads of cap space, and a few at the top “managing” their cap very well, there will always be someone willing to overpay. At some point we’re going to have to overpay for the right player or more often than not miss out.

To be fair a couple of our posters hardly covered themselves in glory on the main board Wilkie thread. Posting like Wilkie and Butters is a done deal is setting those posters up for ridicule.
