So we’d end up with pick 7 or 11 for a bloke we picked up at pick 6 which we traded 3 first rounders for with like 6 years of development put into him. Doesn’t sound greatSort of good news for us. If Sanders does take the Tassie bait, I feel reasonably confident of walking away with something like pick 7 or 11.
Didn’t he meet with Rowell mid season?

Apparently Wilkie was meant to have a meeting with Bont but didn’t get to that point
The Western Bulldogs have acquired Pick 4 in the upcoming AFL National Draft after an opening day trade with Gold Coast Suns on Monday. The Bulldogs will receive picks 4, 46, 51 and a future third-round selection tied to Gold Coast in exchange for selections 10, 17 and the Bulldogs' future first pick in 2024Can we stop the we traded 3 firsts for Sanders thing.
It’s not true on multiple levels
That was unrelated to the trade and was just part of a ‘Meet Your Heroes’ program we have set up for Saints players.
There have been some whispers that Walter isn't viewed as highly internally as he is externally and could potentially end up on the move.GCS chasing Jamarra is a head scratcher.
Even if JUH turns it around, he’s just stifling the development of Walter.
And with plenty of speculation regarding Ben Kings long term future, they would be better off getting Curnow, instead of someone whose about 5% of turning this around.
Importantly leaves out that we actually drafted two players in the first round of the 2023 draft. The Western Bulldogs have acquired Pick 4 in the upcoming AFL National Draft after an opening day trade with Gold Coast Suns on Monday. I’m not complaining about what we traded by the way . Happy with Croft and sandersImportantly leaves out that we actually drafted two players in the first round of the 2023 draft.
Let's call it for what it is. We traded 10 and a future first for the pick on Sanders and effectively used 17 on Croft. It's still far too early to tell if this was good business or not.

I'm glad you're not complaining, I'm just pointing out that it’s more accurate to say we traded three first-round picks knowing we’d be drafting two players in the first round - one of whom was much higher up the board than we would have had access to otherwise.I’m not complaining about what we traded by the way . But we traded
10 17 and future first = 3 first round picks
To secure pick 4 . Yes we had a father son so technically gained a first round pick
We also got back 3 x 3rd rounders. Which we used as points for Croft. Basically traded 2 1st for Sanders and 1 1st for 3 3rds (to acquire points). The Western Bulldogs have acquired Pick 4 in the upcoming AFL National Draft after an opening day trade with Gold Coast Suns on Monday. We’re just scratching the surface with Croft. My hope is that we find a spot for him in the back half of the ground.Importantly leaves out that we actually drafted two players in the first round of the 2023 draft.

Okay I’m gonna walk away from this one I thinkI'm glad you're not complaining, I'm just pointing out that it’s more accurate to say we traded three first-round picks knowing we’d be drafting two players in the first round - one of whom was much higher up the board than we would have had access to otherwise.
Framing it as “We traded 3 first-round picks for 1” might be technically true, but it’s a bit clickbaity. It doesn’t explain the reasoning behind the trade and just leaves people frustrated or confused.

Its the same as we didn't actually trade a first rounder for TreloarOkay I’m gonna walk away from this one I think![]()
Yes but i can't repeat. I know the whole story but can't divulge due to confidentiality. But trade capital wasnt the reason it fell thru. We thru the kitchen sink at it well past my comfort levels. Ps its still not a done deal yet even tho media says it is btw. What have you heard that we offered?
Melbourne are getting rid of their old players to develop their young playersIf we are making plays for an in-contract Wilkie and Butts, can we go for others that are in contract?
If Melbourne sees a bit of exodus and Daniel Turner doesn't want to be part of a bottom 8 team for the next 3-4 years, could he be pried out?
I know the below image is limited to a 5 game stint, but you don't "accidentally" be among the top performing key defenders in the comp. Especially at 23.
I know I keep banging on about him, but IMO he's on an upward curve and on current trajectory, will be elite.
He'd be an excellent option for next year, but just as importantly - IMO - someone we could potentially build a defence around for years after that.
If not this year, I hope we're presenting a significant contract to his manager for the end of 2026, when he's uncontracted.

Agree - hes a starWe’re just scratching the surface with Croft. My hope is that we find a spot for him in the back half of the ground.
The real miss is Murphy Reid. If we’d kept our first rounder last year, he’d have been available at our pick. We even tried to move up in last year's draft to get him. He has the tools to be one of the best midfielders of his generation. That’s what hurts.
Turner is basically untouchable according to my dees friendsIf we are making plays for an in-contract Wilkie and Butts, can we go for others that are in contract?
