Were we, or were we not beaten by the Saints for Silvagni. This is part of a case for Wilkie.
What deal? We’d get more in return for Tassie compo than from the Blues
Straight swaps are rare anyway. It won't happen. But it isn't an absurd hypothetical. Sanders will be picked off by Tassie in two years time and we'll be left wanting.

Straight swaps never happen but if it did I'd begrudgingly take it.
To convince Sanders to move they'd need to offer similar to what we have infront of Wilkie, considering the type of offers Sanders would be getting from Tassie.

They’d have to be insane to do that. He‘s a decent kid that has improved year on year but it’s worrying that he hasn’t been able to work his way into our CBA mix at all.

Yes mate, I realised my error when I posted and promptly deleted. You were too fast to quote me.

I’d prefer to keep Sanders. We’ll get more for him if he chooses to leave for Tassie in a couple of years.

I think the fact that the main concern with trading Sanders would be missing out on a potential haul from Tassie says a bit.

He’s our only Connors client other than Jamarra. If the Saints are willing to go drunk guy at the atm at the strippers with a contract for Sanders he’ll be all over it.

In a perfectly fair league, this would be the case.

Bottom line is -- Sanders will be Elite by the time Tassie comes knocking. And as an expansion team they're entitled to whatever compensation they deem acceptable. Probably, A first and a second. They will get Sanders for Peanuts, we get massive Unders and a bruised ego.

If cutting Sanders loose a little early, fills what potentially could be a Premiership winning hole. Do It. Our Veteran guns are on their last legs.

However, If the Kid is serious about staying on and leading the next charge. Disregard this whole statement

They would be but he isnt going to cross on a long term deal for less money and potentially block a Tassie pay day, and it would be useless for both parties to cross on a two year deal to keep the runway clear. In order to get big money he either leaves for Tassie or leverages their inclusion to get a very healthy deal from us.

If parting with Sanders lands us Wilkie and a better chance at a top 4 finish next year I'd say get it done.

Our list is primed to go all in. Sanders might go on to become a gun but if we want to get an AA key defender with 2 years left on a deal we were always going to have to pay well overs.

Removes the go-home factor of the Tassie team too.

If we were to lose Sanders this season, I think drafting a midfielder becomes a very pressing need. It would almost become negligent to go for anything else with our 1st this year, regardless of how good they are
It’s all hypothetical of course but the club wouldn’t trade Sanders, nor would Sanders want to leave the Dogs for St Kilda.

It says to me that Wilkie is more gettable than we thought if they’re enquiring about our young talent. No surprise they asked about him, and that’s about as far as it’ll get.

Don’t know a lot about BillyCrofts but he played a cracking game today. Looks like he could jump straight onto a senior list.
Offers more than some players we are currently playing. I thought he would get the 3 votes just for his impact.

Also on Arthur Jones: today’s game demonstrated why he isn’t in the AFL side more often. Doing stupid stuff like trying to take mark of the year at centre half back plus many other dumb efforts.

I just don’t see a world where we trade Sanders as part of the Wilkie deal. It’s just not how these things work in the AFL. Much more likely that if we even entertained the idea with sanders that we were wanting to let him go his manager immediately starts a dialogue with Geelong and he wanders down there at the end of his current deal. Players need to feel loved or they make their own decisions where they end up. Willkie will stay at St Kilda or we’ll trade a couple of decent picks for him. The Boyd - Griffen deal only went down as we’d been heavily in Boyd’s ear before Ryan decided enough was enough so we were able to punch back via a guy desperate to get back to melb.
