We're drawing a long bow with Wilkie. He's under contract at the Saints. He's not a politician, he doesn't have to come out and make a public proclamation about his future . Neither does the club. Its just gossip ATM, click bait.

I mean it’s not rumours out of nothing.

It’s been reported he had a call with Bevo and hasn’t declined our offer yet

So much information available. So many trade scenarios up for debate. So many permutations already.
And Trade period doesn’t start for another 12 days and finish for another 21.
I hate this time of year. Have I mentioned that before?

Feel Boak would be a great development coach. Agree on Bruest he would have been great as a forward coach/assistant
Believe we are looking at him for a footy department role predominantly. Less coaching more Matty Egan or Jarryd Geary type operations and leadership specific stuff.

devils advocate - they have just brought in a couple of younger defenders and wilkie is at maximum trade value right now. The chances of him being involved in meaningful september action is low. If we are offering a decent 1st rounder for him, it must be a consideration.

The fact that they have been talking to our players, to see who would be interested in a move, including Marra, and we have delisted Jones, without a second thought, makes me think this is the likely option. They might also have some other irons in the fire which a trade with us would make possible.

He is mates with Baz and same manager. Trying to do it the same way Baz did. Which is silly because he’s contracted. Hope Carlton hold him.
Long term contracts go both ways. You still get your money if you get injured or if your form drops, but it means the club can hold you to your list.

It's amazing the player managers and the players union want to take take take but not give something back to the club.

It's like how Petracca has wanted out two years in a row from Melbourne after Melbourne mishandled his injury. Yes, they mishandled his injury. But Melbourne also took on the risk of having to pay him a lot of money irrespective of form or motivation for several years. Therefore, Melbourne get the benefit of being able to retain an upset Petracca as a result. If Petracca felt like there was a chance that he would not want to stay at Melbourne over the long term he could have easily not taken the guaranteed future money and not signed a long term deal.

Same for Curnow, same for Merrett.

Nope. Its not i can assure you of that. Still genuinely in play. Unlikely but still alive going into the last leg of a quaddie

Looking at the form guide of Cal Twomey, it looks like Doveston has fallen a bit. Also wondering of we need a line breaking mid in the mould of Treloar/Richards. Reading the guide, that player Grlj looks like that sort of option. If we pivot to Butts, Budarick, we might be able to draft both of them. Another option is Phillipou who is a mid/fwd, maybe in the mould of Rainer. That's probably another position to look at a specialist for that role.

That all being said, If we get Butters, then this is moot. I would still like to make a play for Doveston as a specialist small forward. Something we haven't had since Dahlhaus.

If we recruited this guy, his nickname has to be Illija

DOGS' DARCY DRAFT PLAN

THE WESTERN Bulldogs could look to shift up the draft board with a bid set to come for father-son prospect Will Darcy.

Darcy is a raw talent but has been invited to test at the national Telstra AFL Draft Combine next month.

The Dogs currently have only picks No.10 and 28, but could target a move up the board using the second-round pick given the bid for Darcy could come around the middle of the second round.
Gold Coast has had interest in its pick No.6 and clubs will push to get that selection if the Suns can shift it out for more points to match for their Academy kids.

The Bulldogs' top choice will have to be on the table if Callum Wilkie pursues a move from St Kilda to take up the Dogs' lucrative four-year offer, however the Saints are not considered likely to budge if their gun defender looked at a move.

Darcy caught the eye of clubs early this season playing at Scotch College in Melbourne's school system, before getting a taste of Coates Talent League action with the Oakleigh Chargers. – Callum Twomey

I can’t see any world where Darcy is bid on before our second pick.
