I tend to agree with that, but I think this St Kilda situation is unique. They’ve signed Nas for 2 years and now are in a spending spree to try and compete in those years. They’re signing players on very inflated contracts.

I think it’s human nature to not feel great about somebody worse than you getting paid more. Wilkie may be fine with it but he hasn’t said no to us yet so that seems unlikely.

It’s an entirely foreseeable outcome that a club could offer Wilkie a contract like this after the JSOS deal.

I'm guessing we are going to be in a bit of a holding pattern. Unable to fully commit to getting Wilkie because we are wary of the Hawks gazumping us with regard to Butters and us being unable to react. Sooooo much to play out.

Hawks going after Merrett kind of hamstrings on any butters deal they can do trade wise.

Yeah, but until it's done we need to be on our guard. Merrett having a change of heart (like Ridley) or the Bombers flat out refusing to deal him are still possibilities. We need to be ready to react if Port bite on an offer from the Hawks.

Apparently the rumor involves giving up pick 10, to move to pick 6. Not holding on to both. There is zero chance we get pick 6 outright, for anything. JUH and 28 won't cut it.

It will if we are paying his wage and they are highly likely going to have to use 6 for an academy bid. 28 is a useable points pick and they in essence get JUH for something they couldn't use anyway whilst maintaining cap space
