If true, it's another year, another failed target. At some point you'd hope we're doing a comprehensive review of our processes, from player ID to communication to offers (both contractual and trade). We can't keep missing our top targets every year. It's particularly striking when you consider how big of a player movement period this is shaping up to be for both contracted and uncontracted players.
Adam Treloar. Now I know he was salary dumped by Collingwood but it happened so it counts. When was the last time a smaller Melbourne team got a big name contracted player to join?
Agree with this. Every time we identify a target we've either been guzumped or they don't commit. If true, it's another year, another failed target. Off the top of my head in recent history: Silvagni, Erasmus, Peatling, Barrass, Bedford, De Koning, Henry, Impey.Assuming you meant Barrass, well Hawthorn were always going to be a more attractive proposition than us.
As for Wilkie, it was the Saints that gave him a chance as a mature age rookie so I don't mind that he wanted to stay loyal. The fact we got this far probably meant our process worked reasonably well.
Interesting the president pulls rank and personally offers a significant contract increase when the list manager wouldn't.
Was always a game of chicken and seems Saints blinked first.
It won't hurt the Saints in 26 or 27 but they cant pay 105% forever. Guys like Tauru and Barrat will be needing more game time and money soon.
Personally if I were Power I'd now be in the ear of Barrat and see how he feels being behind Aleer, Wilkie, JSos and Tauru for the foreseeable future.

.We forced the Saints to raise their offer, stretching their cap now and limiting flexibility in future years.Oh well. Nothing lost, nothing gained.
I hear he will only sign on in a package deal with Matthew LobbeMatty Bates still floating about?
