It is funny how earlier in the week and last week people are complaining about our key defender problem and how we're not doing enough about it.

Then the in the know posters reveal, yes, our staff are actually doing their jobs, we are making an effort to recruit key defenders from other clubs.

Spoke to my contact at the club this evening to try to get further details on Budarick's contract offer and a potential trade cost but couldn't get any more information their unfortunately.

He did however tell me initial talks with Carlton kicked off today over a trade for Khamis, with the Dogs having eyes on the compensation pick Blues will receive for Jsos.

Assume we would have to include something along with buku to get our hands on that pick

Heard some wild stuff about Shermo.

Had some raw ability but a bit of a liability.

The racism suspension didn’t help.

Nah his current contract ends one year before they come in. Which is why his management only want him to sign a 1 year extension.

We would almost have to trade him if he refuses to sign for anything except 1 year. But clubs wouldn’t pay up for a player who only agrees to one year.

Bit of a tough one. Not sure why Sanders management would dig in on 1 year. If he wanted to go, I’m sure we’d trade him. We just want more back. It’s not like Sanders has to pay.

Regarding Oliver, the other 17 clubs should collectively refuse to trade for him.

$1m a year to play VFL for five years is a massive handbrake on Melbourne.

It's now 29 after the Eagles assistant pick and will drift out further with Alan, TDK, Ah Chee, Jsos, Draper and Worpel compensation picks.
The Jsos compo pick is likely out to 23 and our pick becomes 35, that would value Khamis at around pick 36 on points which is all that matters to the blues as they need to match a Bid for Dean.

Blues also need to bring in Chesser and Reidy but they're both out of contract and likely involve future picks.
