Isn't the very trade up to get Sanders a high-risk/high-reward trade?

We very easily could have done other trades that saw us take 2-4 picks in the 10's and 20's but we banked it all for one player, Sanders.
Well actually it was for the Wizard, but Hawks trumped us

You're not grasping whats happening here are you? If we trade Sanders for a first it won't be used to draft a player it'll be used to get Butters

If Sanders agrees to a trade and we get another first round pick then i'd go out on a limb and say Butters could end up at the dogs by end of trade period
Hope that’s a strong limb….bye Ryley….😜😜

I know this was the media line at the time but I honestly find it very hard to believe. List managers tend to have an extremely strong sense of how the top end of the draft will unfold outside of a couple of surprises. I expect that the recruiters knew that Watson to the Hawks was a strong chance at the time the trade was made.

Agreed,

Hawks were never taking Ryley as he is no different to Ward/Mackenzie that they had just drafted early

The hawks wanted dursma they where really interested but north got pick 3 for ben McKay so then north picked dursma and the hawks got watson

Has anyone considered that these Butters rumours may just be cooked up by the powerful cabal who secretly rule the world to distract us from the Epstein files?
Thank you Q.

My dream is:

Sanders + 33 and F3 (F2 if needed) to Adelaide

Butts + 16 and F1 to Dogs

We get Butts in to shore up the KPD stocks and another F1 to throw at Butters.

Take Dovaston to add to our small forward stocks and a Lindsay or Farrow to add to our HBF or Wing depth and a Bailey Dale / Bramble replacement and we cover our 3 most needed areas IMO. Use pick 40 from Carlton (Buku) to grab Will Darcy if he gets bid on, or rookie him.

Then with the young guys we have coming through (Dolan, Hynes, Jaques, Dovaston, Farrow, Sellwood, Walker, Darcy etc), I think we have some really promising cheap depth to continue to keep the internal improvement high over the next few years.

You do realise that by the time we traded up we knew exactly who pick 6 was going to be. All the list managers and recruiters know exactly who the other is taking, and it's been like that for years. They are all very complimentary to each other as it helps all out.
