Also hopefully it's burst the tyres of some slimy scummy and petulant player managers who think they own the joint and run around chests puffed out demanding whatever they want.

what's the difference, we have lost 3 first round pics for basically peanuts.... sorry just bit emotional at the moment when you see what we have drafted and should be playing for us and now are not.Don’t have an issue with it as backup etc and it costs nothing.
I think we all know it’s a need, but spending any draft capital on a fringe defender would have been a bad idea. If Silvagni or Wilkie had come off that would have been great, but they didn’t.
I’d rather pump games into JOD, Buss, Croft and even Buku with Gardy and Frost in support than give up picks for a 24 year old who will play 30 games for us and be delisted.

I'd prefer Blight younger and has more upsideFrost makes sense.
Played 24 games in 2024 and was best clubman at Hawthorn. Frozen out by Barrass, Battle signings in 2025.
Reckons he's fit, healthy and raring to go with a couple of good years left in him.
Honest old school full back.
No worldbeater obviously but probably most suitable for our requirements.
If not Blight would sooner see Jones Rookied with an assistant coaching role like Duryea this seasonI'd prefer Blight younger and has more upside
We have to share in the responsibility for this with the Boyd deal, but a lot of it goes back to the entry of the expansion clubs.Yeah. Was having a chat yesterday, and Clubs are getting sick of player managers running the show.
(Although, it could be argued that Clubs get themselves in situations by signing lengthy deals in the first place).
Anyway, my main takeaway from the last couple of days is that some people don't understand the concept of an elephant in a room...
The rookie list is full but some level of action needs to be taken for Baker/Poulter - either delisted, upgraded or for them to go through the rookie draft again. If we are taking 3 picks to the draft we need to cut 2 more players off the list entirely (either rookie or main list), and a 3rd to bring someone like Frost on to the rookie list.Do we even have a list spot for Frost? We seem to be taking three picks to the draft & we need to upgrade JOD.
Rookie list is full unless we delist Baker or Poulter.
So you think Buss won't make it but want us to go after Aleer who looks even worse?Implement a more defensive mindset and structure is all we can do. We don't have quality 1 on 1 defenders, the stats highlight that, so we need to change our game plan. Will Bevo do it, unlikely. Don't think Buss will make it, has some strengths but too many weaknesses, pace and 1 on 1 being what we need. Hopes he proves me wrong.
I would have thrown Leek Aleer a lifeline. Granted not exactly what we are looking for yet isn't that what good coaches and team structures are there for. Anyone who saw him win the game for the Giants down Geelong know the talent is there and there was something to work with. Not the end of the world though. Just seemed a very safe trade period and clearly the club does not think our defense is a major issue. I just hope Lobb holds up and the cliff comes quickly from 32 onwards, we have all been there.
You could argue that whilst we are relatively successful, we should be doing more, like Geelong Hawthorn targeting needs in the last few years. As once we bottom, we won't attract anything. We have probably 5 more Bont years to do something, then our cycle down will come.
Just listening to Michae Reagan on SEN….sounds like we’ve got a few irons in the fire…I’m 100% Butters is coming next year nowWe are definetly gearing up for Butters
Wilkie would have been looked at middle of the year I reckon.
Reality is with what was available, the responsibility is on the coaches from a team level to get the balance between attack and defend better to not expose the back line to easy entries, and coaching development for individual improvement in the various roles on the backline inclusive of leadership and direction. So you think Buss won't make it but want us to go after Aleer who looks even worse?
Also how have you come to him being bad 1 on 1? he lost 2 of his 7 this year which is 28.6% which is better then Frost/May who have been suggested as well as all of our other KPD and going back to Aleer who lost 50% of them,
Albeit most were on Darcy who monstered him Alex Pearce who is considered a top level FB lost 36.6% of his this year
Yet they want to get rid of father son….the academies are a jokeThere was only one massive winner in the Trade Period and that was GCS who will be Brisbane's rival. To be able to give away quality trade picks to get Petracca in knowing they will still land 2 top 5 picks via their academy shows where the real flaws in the system are. Brisbane didn't improve their team unless the Oscar Allen of 4 seasons ago re emerges.
The northern states clubs have significant advantages with their academies as it allows them to use draft picks other clubs cannot knowing they will have direct access to similar quality players, hence why the Swans were able to satisfy Carlton for Curnow.
The good news for us is other than Gold Coast none of the other top 8 clubs significantly improved. The challenge for us is to improve via all other mechanisms to first catch up then go ahead of the other top 8 clubs inclusive of the Queensland teams

Obviously we weren’t impressed with ButtsRiley Beveridge confirming we did have a crack at Mark Keane
I think this is what’s lost on people. Everyone just saw Butts as a KPD and assumed he is what we need.Obviously we weren’t impressed with Butts
There was lots of crying. Think GameDay thread,it was a bit like thatCan someone put a real quick summary of what we actually did in trade perios please ?
i know we got rid of Jamarra for a pick in the 70s. But did we get him completely off the books or do we have to pay some salary?
Did Buku go or is he still on the list?
I'm on board for Frost too. Gives Buss/JoD a bit of extra development time. For a rookie spot the pros outweigh the cons.Frost makes sense.
