In fierce competition with the Liberatore empire, which recently expanded beyond Seddon and Ascot Vale into Spotswood.

I can't answer for anyone else, but a 'couple of quiet afternoon beers' regularly end up f@#king me...

For what it is worth, I was referring to the recent downturn (Australia wide) of alcohol consumption, particularly in relation to Gen Z. Buying blue-chip pubs is no longer a guarantee to financial success. It is about time that our Federal and State Governments, similar to many states in the US, open up regulations in relation to cannabis and limited psychedelic substances for our youth so they can grow as human beings and finally move out of their parents home.

Back to trading - what do we get for Sanders when he goes to Tasmania?

The Spotswood pub was going gangbusters when I went in to read the water meter one Friday arvo. Its been sensitively renovated, stripped back to original fixtures, country pub style.

I think they're sending me back there soon. I like Spotswood, it's like an island surrounded by the remnants of the Industrial Revolution.

On wages, it's surprising what even exceptionaly wealthy people will do for more cash. Players at the peak of their powers in the English Prenier league , players who earn a decent lottery jackpot in a single month , will leave a club where the fans adore their every move to play in the backwaters of Saudi Arabia. Never underestimate avarice.

Don't think I have ever heard of a player not hitting the ground running after a trade
When all is said and done Jakey boy would have played close to 250 games and kicked over 400 goals, yet he'll always be remembered as leaving so much on the table. His time at Essendon is ridiculously overrated, routinely kicked his bags against bottom 4 sides and didn't come close to replicating his 2015, and even 2016 form with us.

That 2 month stretch at the end of 2015 it truly felt like the sky was the absolute limit. Even in that Adelaide final when he was relatively quiet, the moments he was having were truly sublime.

“He reminds me of a new kid coming into a new
environment wanting to earn his
stripes again.”

Ummm isn’t that exactly what he is??

I know I might be in the minority, but I’d be very happy to see Jamarra succeed at the Suns.
Yeah I feel the same.

The only reason I'll be annoyed is if he plays a big, direct role in ending our season - eg plays a blinder and GC beat us by a point to knock us out of finals. Short of that I hope he does well and turns it around up there.

I've made this point before but Paddy McCartin played a role for a team in a grand final making season, all season, after being able to be picked up for free by Sydney after the Saints had to let go of him for no compensation.

I get that the circumstances that led to the change of club, what was in the players control and how the club invested in them, and the time between playing for clubs, and the financial investment were all a bit different. But in broad strokes its not too dissimilar - club has number 1 draft pick, loses number 1 draft pick for no fault of their own, other club picks up number 1 draft pick for free. Wait to see if Jamarra has as good as a career as good as McCartin's 2022 season, which was very good.

Saints to their credit were very magnanimous about the whole situation, were understanding of it and generally wanted McCartin to do well - and like you we can easily act the same way as a fanbase.

I would too but his success would be used as evidence to claim that we can’t handle difficult cases, and even worse that we are an undesirable destination for indigenous players. Both notions are already whispered a bit and hinted at by some germos.

Nothing against Jamarra though. I hope he finds peace and fulfilment.
