Strategy Trade and List Management Thread Part 8 (opposition supporters - READ posting rules before posting)

I contribute semi-regularly to WOOF, a lot of it being in the AFLW thread and certainly not daily, and have access to the training reports. They’re thorough and detailed and I have a lot of trust in the people who write them.
I went months without posting and maintained my access. I really only post in a select few threads like yourself. Didn't expect my comment would set people off like this, seems like people just inventing scenarios in their heads to get angry about

Just don’t understand the reason to wall off supporters who would be interested in reading those reports. Quite jealous of the well documented training reports that other clubs have on bigfooty while we are left in the dust.

We are a small enough club as it is. The more access and exposure we can to get the better.
Because the owner of the site pays for it himself, and simply asks that people contribute if they want to digest the material. He put up the training reports behind a hidden thread only accessible to contributors because of a number of cases of people literally copy/pasting the entire thing onto other websites like Bigfooty.

It's restrictive but I don't think it's unreasonable - it's like if you had a group chat with mates to share tips or whatever, and some random came and joined the chat and sat silently while forwarding those tips on elsewhere. At some stage you'd just kick that person out, no?

I’m not sure it’s ‘inventing’ scenarios when people are rejected from even joining in the first place.

I was a member for a while, but found WOOF to be humourlessly insular and cliquey. And it only seems to have gotten worse in the years since. After the walls went up and they tightened who could view their pearls of football wisdom I think you need to be on the spectrum just to qualify for their lofty standards.
I had a very similarly experience. I made efforts to contribute including asking questions to the track watches but literally got ignored while the main cast just went about their conversation amongst themselves.

I don’t begrudge them at all and think the friends WhatsApp comparisons is right, I’m just not going to performatively post into the abyss to access training reports.

There was a former poster on here who often had lots of inside info. Eventually adopted a posting style of lecturing to others, and didn't take kindly to being challenged. That poster became quite dominant on WOOF, I believe. Maybe still is.

WOOF? Yeah, nah. 🙂
Are they really a former poster? Usually just create a new account.

I was on WOOF years ago, and found the moderator was really good, but there was a couple of contributors who didn’t like having their opinions challenged or disagreed with, which makes an online discussion pointless, anyway one I found particularly misogynist and overbearing which drove me out.

Thinking that people are angry when describing their user experience of WOOF seems a bit of a stretch.

Like bigfooty. Some like it. Some loathe it. Some even exist in both worlds.

But in the end, neither place or anything written within them amounts to jack shit.

I’m convinced Woof is Bevo

The poster on WOOF told me “I was too emotional” whenever I put up an opinion he disagreed with, I still laugh at this 😂 Since when has footy not been emotional, I will challenge anyone who believes it’s not.

To be fair I have mellowed quite a lot since those days.

The same people also complain about the forums dying due to lack of new blood, or refer to BigFooty as something evil, or shit talk some of the ITK posters over here (myself included) because not 100% of things are correct.

Makes no sense to me.
Evil is the correct word for the people who post on the game day thread.
