Should look to offload this guy at the end of the season. Average midfielder who has already plateaued. Regarded by many as one of the better taggers in the game, but IMO he isn't Peverill's arseh*le in that respect. Seems most of his possessions these days are either clangers or ineffective, and when things don't go his way on the field his body language can be pretty bad. His decision making has been poor so far this year. We might be able to negotiate a top 10 draft pick for him, which i think we should use to pick up a potential center half back to replace Wellman in 2-3 years.

PS This is not a reaction to the Collingwood loss. I am on record saying that Collingwood would most likely beat us this year for no other reason than they were due. We had beaten them the past 7 times which was already a record for us, so i couldn't see us going 9-0.

Only two untouchables at Essendon.
Lloyd and Fletcher, the rest of the list, I would listen to all offers

Even on Hird?

IMO .. the untochables at Essendon are Lloyd, Hird, Fletcher and Wellman ... JJ is getting pretty close to this list as well.

Listen to all offers, even for my love childs Hilley and Scotty.
Relax boys the offers would have to be monstrous.
When doing this the club would have to get a good feel on how good the draft was going to be this season.Last years draft looks like a mental one (good one) Knowing our luck we would probably get another bloody bolton,he is getting close to one of the biggest wastes of a pick in league history.
No. bloddy 4 !!!!!

i totally agree..chris heffernan is over rated!!!!!!!!!!!!

can someone tell me what Justin blumfield has done in the past 2 seasons?

Yeah I know you said it already topdon, but I'm confused too! ???

I guess his reckoning is that Hardwick was 28 when he was traded. Hirds now 29, but I dunno, that the only reason I can come up with.

walking home from the game, a mate of mine was listing the blues players that had to go (he's a blues fan). so my other mate (dons fan) and i tried the same.

Rioli - initially we said give him time, but then we agreed any of michael long's nephews would be better.

Alessio - he may have saved us against the swans last year, but i'll take hille and salmon anyday. Essendon, do NOT re-sign this guy next year.

Bolton - he's been giving enough opportunities, he's not up to it.

Mercuri - for his years and experience, he isn't of sufficient value.

Heffernan - definite trade bait, although needs to be played in the right position Sheedy!

Blumfield - to be looked at come year's end.

McAlister - well that's obvious.

We may be happy to have the Fish for a year, but if we AGAIN fail to do something about our ruck deficiencies, then we won't get anywhere. To re-sign Alessio after this season will be one such step in the WRONG direction.

McAllister and Bolton should be delisted. Should try and offload one of Heffernen or Blumfield but not both for draft picks. Also I think one of McVeigh or McGrath as well while they still have some market value.

A couple of years ago, Carlton offered a second round draft pick for McAllister and we didn't take it.

We have to keep Allessio as Salmon won't go again next year. We can't have Hille and O'Keefe as our only ruck options next year.

I'm 100% convinced now that we have to trade Heff, and i'd also throw in Rioli (done sweet FA since 99) to possibly get a top 5 pick in the draft. I'd still keep Blumfield though, i'm not convinced that he still can't be a good player for us.

Always injured old Jimmy, yes he had a year out of the box in 2000,but these days he misses more than he plays. It will never happen, but in my book,it would be worth looking at.

Fair enough. That's your opinion...but thank god you are not on the coaching panel or recruiting staff :D

Sorry John, I'm with go team. If we ever thought of trading him, no membership.

Doesn't Sheedy regard McAllister as a "pet project" or something like that ?

Although New Zealanders don't grow up with the game, if they come to it, they usually excel at it.

Trent Croad, Donald Dickie and Wayne Schwass being obvious examples.

Patience and hard work COULD pay off with McAllister IMHO

cheers

yeah right - the usual story

You give us McAllister, and he follows Bomford and O'Connor into the Bermuda Triangle better known as the Sydney Swans

... and we give you a first round draft pick which you use to draft a 17 yo Terry Daniher has had his eye on for the last 10 years and who will be the next superstar of the game ...

SNAFU anyone ? ;)
