In his third year and hasn't really performed to some expectations. Taken pick 12 and still young so has trade vaule. But should they trade him or just be patient and let him develop.

I just think we have to many light flankers just like him.

Thoughts/Comments.

Who?

LOL

(After my vote = 100% yes......sorry Danny.....majority rules!!)

Obviously it would depend what we are trading him for. Considering we will almost certainly have 3 picks in the top 20 i dont think its worth trading him for a high 3rd round/low 2nd round pick which is probably all we would get. I would probably keep him.

If we got a potential star Ruckman for him then yes Trade him, if not then I would want to keep him, I still beleive he will be a fantastic player.

Wouldn't trade him at this stage. Potentially he could be somewhere in the region of being as good as Brown, and players like that don't grow on trees.

He still hasn't done much at all, but his attitude and defensive pressure do appear to be heading in the right direction...albeit slowly.

He was always going to be a project player for us. Hopefully the fact that the rest of the 'Fab Five' have earned themselves much more senior footy will give him an extra bit of fire in the belly to prove himself.

I'm also not at all convinced either of the SA clubs would want him...at least not at a price which would be worth us accepting.

:)LEAN towards no for two reasons.

1. Expectation that he may eventually pull his finger out and realise what talent he has and make good use of it.

2. Another case of us Tiger supporters maybe over-estimating his worth. Like seriously, on what he has showed this year, he is garage sale material...not top shelf. Seriously deluding ourselves that he is worth a first or second round pick...or even a third rounder. You will find there are not too many suitors willing to take on players who can't command a regular game in a team that is WINLESS.

Put simply, if Danny Meyer had the attitude, application and talent, there would be no reason why he wouldn't be a walk up start in this battling side at the moment.

Instead, he is doing his best impersonation of a stoned Geoff Heyward (dfrom the movie The Club), staring off in to the distance at Coburg City Oval.

Fringe players at leading clubs often wind up getting traded to rival clubs....I doubt we could even label Meyer a "fringe" player. So far off the pace it doesn't matter.

And this from a guy who continually sung his praises last year and during pre-season:(.

Must be the first to go.... character personifies everything we don't want at the club at the moment. Not interested, doesn't care and too sooky too perform away from home. Body language is contagious, seems a shame to let skill go but can't even give us just a little bit of ticker. Freshest pilchard in the bait fridge....I'll even take a fourth rounder.

I've got dibs on the first omelet fresh off Wally Matera's face. Coincidence wally that him and the great Tiv will be departing at the same time?.....we'll call it evens....two wrongs make a right.

I'm still backing him... blind faith. I wrote a post about him the other day and still feel that we could persevere with him for another season, maybe two.

He'll be a handy player, dont worry about that. ;)

Ps. Great to hear from you mate... been a while. :thumbsu:

Someone should say to him, "if you keep playing this shit and don't put your hand up, I don't care what potential you have or if you come from Adelaide or not, you won't get picked up even in the PSD because your lazy"

Needs to be given a few easy 10-15 touche games across half back and the wing IMO. That might get him settled

yeah mate exams have been ruling the roost of late but back in the game now...... gutted the big bad bustling oxx has gone walk about though.

Id give him another year, he may just need to get laid, give him a few sessions at the planet and he'll be right as rain

I'd give him another year because even Nathan G. Brown did nothing in his first 3 years and they are similar types of player.

He is an 'icing on the cake' type of player and we need to get the ground work done before we look for these types. I want to see how he goes in a winning side (if possible). It's a bit hard to expect him to bring all the icing with only half a cake ;)

Hey there guys.
This is my first post but have read this forum for ages.
For the greater good of the Richmond Footy Club, Danny Meyer has to stay.
It will all click for him very soon, rest assured.
I have seen enough of him to rate him, he just needs to seriously up his workrate.
He wasn't pick 12 for no reason.
I would be more inclined to delist or trade guys that won't or can't take our beloved club to where it needs to be.
Jackson, Krakouer, P. Bowden, Kingsley and Knobel would be on the short list.

What is he 20? In his 3rd season, used pick 12 on him.
If I was on the coaching staff I would sit down with him and see where his head is at.
If he doesn't want to be in Victoria and more importantly at Punt Road, cut him loose.
I feel that he is seriously lacking confidence, the kid is on an AFL list, it is every young guy's dream.
I have seen him bulk up into a decent sized flanker, we just need him to take the bull by the horns and prove his worth.
We at Richmond are too quick to offload youngsters we haven't performed.

Doesn't matter Fiora is in his 8th season and we used pick 4 on him, doesn't mean he's going to come good anytime soon. Danny's problem is that he doesn't know how to find the pill and never will as it's not something you can really teach. We can't afford to have dedicated forward flankers who can't take a turn in the middle and I've been suggesting for a long while we throw him to the half back flank to see if he could play a rebounding defender to good effect using his skills out of the backline.

I'm willing to give him a bit more time but without playing one semi decent AFL game this year and showing absolutely no commitment to the cause I could be convinced to let him go for something vaguely worthwhile such as a ruckman.

Give the kid time, not everyone can be stand outs in their first 3 years. come players take longer than others its not just set in stone that smaller player will develop quicker and the taller ones will take longer.

Simche, if he couldn't find the pill he would have never been scouted.
He is no superstar but I think will be a solid contributor in the long term.
I agree with you in putting him at half back.
Not every guy will be a star right away and some never will.
A perfect example of a late bloomer is Goddard from St.Kilda. Number One Draft pick and only now starting to repay them.
Daniel Jackson is slowly starting to repay the faith put in him by the RFC.
We need to keep our young guys in the system or we must rebuild from step one again.
I personally do not want to wait until 2020.

Agree with every word you say.
Put him out there at trade time. If he has no takers...delist him.

Some say we don't give enough time to these kids. I disagree, this is when the tough calls have to be made. Three years is long enough I to show something that you'll be an AFL player particularly a mid sized one.

When he was drafted in '04 he was touted as 'the next Simon Black' & 'possibly the best pick of the lot'.
LMAO!!! unfortunately Meyer is a skinny runt with no desire, who can't find the ball.
Absolute waste at dp12. Wallace stuffed it.:(

Why would you take a fourth rounder?

You are gonna sell him for a project player who has as much chance at a rookie. Then spend a couple hundred g's on developing a maybe, who you will still be waiting 4 or 5 years to deliver. Why not stick with Meyer who we all know has talent and could be almost anything.

It annoys me as much as the next man that Meyer hasn't stepped up to the plate yet, but he's showed enough glimpses to warrant another season or two. He is a great overhead mark and a beautiful kick of the footy, I'm happy to invest in this 'project' a little longer.
