I actually thought his ruck work was good tonight and he gave a lot of effort. He really does struggle to mark though.

Won't be dropped while he is 2nd ruck, nor should he be.

Id be dropping Cloke before Dawes.... ****ing disgraceful game by Cloke. He should be embarrassed.

Could trial Dawes in defense in next week's practice game - has he ever been tried in the role?

If he can do that it would at the least make him more versatile, also forwards who get some defense experience often become better forwards as a result.

He was very good against Geelong.

His ruck work has improved aswell. You would get no value trading him considering his willingness to take a pay cut and his poor form this season. You wouldn't want to trade him off unless you got a ruckman in return.

Say Dawes to Freo for Griffin or to Essendon with a pick for Bellchambers or maybe to the Dogs for Minson if they were willing to deal.

Crap thread is crap. What a bunch of whiners and whingers. After a great win, let's just throw in something negative because I'm a miserable ****.

****shakes head ******

Some of these same guys would have a whinge after shagging Megan Gale because she didn't give him a HJ also.

That is not such a bad idea and bring in either Ceglar or Witts or Paine if he is over his ankle injury our next 2 games are not against as strong as opponents as our last 2 which due to great team efforts we have won against the odds on both occasions pretty F------ good if you ask me.

These last 2 matches have made me feel fantastic as a Pies fan against all the odds and all the misfortune of the injuries the players as a whole playing group are trying their guts out some are out of form no doubt but they all having a red hot go.:thumbsu:

Not sure about trading Dawesy, was a shocking not for big marking forwards. Dawes was good against the Bulldogs and Geelong, we know his form has been below par for most of the year, but he needs to regain some confidence, plus he's playing a different role as the second ruckman. Not sure if this suits him, but the club are keen to pursue this option. Hopefully he can have a good couple of weeks before the bye, then come out after the bye and have a good second half to the year. Keep the faith!

Seriously I'm sick of his concrete hands and teeth grinding when he has numerous free kicks paid against him.
Sure he is a big boy, but what does he actually contribute to this team?
Is physical presence the only thing saving his arse?

I say bye bye Chris.......Goldsack is built like a black lead pencil and makes Dawes goal kicking look pathetic.

End rant/
Gee, I wonder what your post would have been like if we had lost?

No need to trade him.

What they do need to do, though, is get him to stop acting so immature when things don't go his way. That stuff would just be sitting in the back of his mind: "What do I have to do to get a free kick around here? Come on, take just one mark!" etc etc

The quicker he moves on from any particularly frustrating moment, the more likelihood of him being able to contribute with a positive frame of mind, instead of worrying about what the umpire's going to do if he's infringed upon.

When you're in a rut(ten...haha...this just comes to me), however, it's challenging to break out of that thought pattern and move on. He'll come good - just needs reinforcement and no doubt he gets that from the team.

I think the 2nd ruck position is really hurting him though because it's killing his long lead runs which keeps him in the play.
But he's in a form slump no doubt, so is Cloke too, a lot might have to do with the way we're moving the ball too.
Our style is shifting far more to breaking back out of defense and it leaves one or two extra around them so they're finding it a bit tough at the minute.

I agree in the fact the back up Ruck is not helping him, just like it was in 2009 when he was playing that role for a period of about 6 weeks.

I think his contested marks have actually improved this year but his goal kicking has been woeful, which he normally is not to bad at. i think he is contributing enough to carry on as there isnt much coming through in the way of forwards in the VFL as far as the game reports seems to suggest.

What i do like about Dawes compared t most KPF is his ability at the ground to find a handball to open small forwards. He is very smart with little taps that dont count as possesions but lead to scoring opportunites. There is no way I would be dropping him, he will come on and look out when he does

and for what its worth he form in the first 18 weeks last year was pretty damn tidy he trailled of a bit in the later half as most of our players did. Forwards sometimes cant be made to look good or poor depending on the delivery of the midfield

Thank god none of you are on our match committee, or have close contact to Geoff Walsh.

Dawes just signed a new contract, and is going nowhere, criticise his form all you want, but he will be at Collingwood at least until the end of 2014, so put up with it or shut the **** up.

Dawes and Cloke actually tried their butts off last night, Trav ran 16km and I dare say Dawes would have done similar with his ruck work around the ground.

I loved that Dawesy got angry last night, some of his defensive efforts up forward were top class.

He'll be right, long term, he played two very good games leading into this one, and on a night that wasn't suited to talls he still battled out the game.

Keep going Dawesy, all the true supporters are behind you.:thumbsu:

I would like to see Dawes play the next 2 games and perhaps gain some form, cause as mentioned above, we could do with a % boost - then trade him off at the end of the year.

Unless of course he comes good and I eat humble pie - nothing would please me more.

HOWEVER! Bux may have a different idea and surprise us all :)

He should have been given a run in the VFL weeks ago but the simple fact is that we have too many injuries to do it. Hopefully when we (fingers crossed) get Tarrant, Reid and Brown back this can happen. One of Tarrant or Reid to go forward while he's out.

The only problem is that we don't have another back up ruckman now that Keeffe is out for the year. :(

This.

Should have been droppped earlier but presently due to injuries he has had a reprieve. Havent seen last nights game but form to that point had been slowly improving. It doesnt appear to be good conditions for talls though.

Dawes is about were Cloke was in when Pebbles was the main man.

To be fair his relief rucking efforts were actually really good, which unfortunately has been overlooked because of the fact that he can't take a mark to save his life at the moment, nor is he the dead eye in front of goal he once was.

I hope it clicks for him, I like Dawesy as a player and a person, he looked ready to become a world beater in early 2011 but since then he has lost confidence entirely.

And to be honest, I think it's partly in his head, he is getting angry after every contest for getting mistreated but he should be channelling that anger into wrestling and bustling and crashing packs.

I still feel like he needs to go back to the VFL just to get the basics right, (although he's got a good chance these coming weeks against VFL quality opposition) to take a few big grabs and kick some goals against lesser opponents. He has his work cut out every week at the moment especially with the back up ruck work, he needs to get his groove back.

A few people wanted to trade Daisy last week, so nothing surprises me around here.

He's not in great form, but he never drops is head, always competes and works incredibly hard. People bagging Cloke and Dawes are being very simple, considering it was a wet night.

Goldsacks first goal was created by Cloke crashing a pack and busting it wide open in. 1 v 3 contest. Then later, a combination of Cloke and Dawes in the final quarter was astonishing effort. Clokes crashed a marking contest, then Dawes laid a massive shepherd, Cloke laid a tackle and then a 3rd effort to knock ball free and we ran into the 50 for a crucial goal thanks to multiple ground level efforts from the 2 big boys.

Cloke even on a dirty night does so much work that seems to go unnoticed. He created space beautifully last night, never stopped running, presented a long target with 80m leads when we needed an outlet from defence and did so much body work around the ball it was fantastic to see.

Dawesy will be fine.

His work rate is still high.

It will turn for him.

It is more mental than anything for him now.

I agree. Get a first round pick for him, plenty of clubs would love to have him. Get some games into Jack Paine.
He was woeful last night. One trick pony, and we've already seen his trick.

Cloke had 4 possessions this week.
Should we get rid of him also?

Cloke has been rubbish this year I'll agree with that. But he has the runs on the board.AA,The record in contested marks for the history of the AFL.
What has Dawes done?

....TV just arrived in Tassie this year? It's a shame you didn't see Dawes' 3 goals in last year's Prelim against the Hawks and the great game he played in 2010 GF replay.
