We have to apologise to anyone who was trying to view the site on Thursday from about mid-day until 2PM, but had trouble with time-outs or slow page load times.
After the Port Adelaide v West Coast nail-biter sent our system tumbling around our ears, we have been tweaking things so you can talk footy without interruption.
Unfortunately our efforts were not quite enough and we should have watched the system more closely.
While we were viewing the site fine at this end, and thinking our new automatic server scaling rules were working, others were having trouble. Though we ended up with 15 web servers online, they didn't spin up fast enough to cope with the jump in traffic.
Last night and this morning we have been reviewing our procedures to work out ways to deliver a better service.
We can't promise it won't happen again, but we are working on ways to minimise these service interruptions.
