If we're so damn aggressive, i expect the club to land one of Steele, Swallow, Mitchell or Pickett this trade period.

Or do some pick exchange with strengthens our draft position this year ar the very least.

Petrie and Frodo are the opposite of aggressive. Hopefully the club realizes the only real form of collateral it has is MacKenzie.
Pickett should be a gimme, hasn't played yet and won't in the foreseeable future. I know he was a high pick but has he shown much when not injured?.gws tried to fill a gap on their list by reaching for a couple of players and didn't pay off so the brought Johnson in

I rate Taranto a grade down from Petracca but I still rate him highly. There is mail that I have received from former colleagues in the East that both Bowes and Brodie have slipped slightly in some Clubs rankings. SPS although not having as good a year this year as last still holds a high ranking with scouts, the only knock on him is the "go homer factor " which is a real concern.

paran your a hard man to impress as Taranto has done as much as he possible can to be a worthy candidate for top six come draft day.

He played very well for Sandringham in the TAC to earn selected in the Vic Metro team.
Played well enough and consistently in the Championships to gain All Australian Selection.
Returned back to Sandringham and finished the season strongly and starred in the finals.
Scouts love the kids that play well in finals and understandably so.
Then he had a blinder in the All Stars Game.

I haven't meet the kid but I have been told he will interview well at the combine.
He has fans in the recruiting fraternity that pay credence to those mids who are also goal kickers as they attract a premium grade.

Have been told that his last months performances have seen his stock rise considerably on draft boards, to the point where I have given up any hope of him being available with our first. I would love to be wrong on this one, as I would be delighted if we snagged him. Short of McLuggage he would be my dream pick for West Coast.
Mate, thanks for the detailed response, I really do appreciate it. It's not that I'm hard, just slightly harder questions - it's hard to get a clear picture off the some BF comments - there are always less and less guys who do the detailed scouting reports on prospects. I simply haven't had the time to review the prospects as much as previous years, so my exposure is quite slim and shallow, thus the questions. I really haven't seen Taranto play, and to hear that he's stepped it up to the top tier level talent, I was just testing your veracity :) So many prospects have stepped forward this year, and the picks are more important than expected this year. It was supposed to be 2 players plus Waterman draft. With Yeo, Duggan and Sheed not stepping up this year as hoped/expected we're still extremely reliant on a few good players to keep us a top team, and again hoping for a talent to fall to our pick. What I can see from this draft is that if we play it straight and stay where we are, we'll end up with a good prospect who has slipped being available.

I feel like Darling is a player that can hit elite status but continually teases by being a 'very good' player. I think unless the other club REALLY wants him we're going to get less than he is worth (or rather what I think he could/will be worth).
He's never going to be an elite CHF, and that's the issue. He's a 3rd tall who can play up and play deep, or he can be an FF. That's why the blossoming of Barrass is good - it should free up Shooter to CHF. Play Barrass and Schoey as KPD's, and JK and Shooter as KPF's. Fixes our issue of being too tall as well!

I'm not sure if this has been covered but just looking at Petrie's stats - he has averaged less than 1 hit out per game over the past 3 years and averages 3.8 per game over his career. Sounds like a perfect signing as backup ruckman at age 34. The insight of our recruitment team never ceases to amaze.
I'd rather go for a roughie like Seva Mozhaev from West Perth. Was alright this year* coming back from a knee construction. He is 208cm tall and as we know with tall players like Sandilands as long as they can run in a straight line and put their hands in the air they have some value.
Rookie list him and get a pre season into him and I think there is something to work with

*Only saw him play twice but I've seen stupider ideas on this thread.

Wouldn't even be mentioned as an option if there was no NM connection at WCE.

I don't agree at all with the possible Petrie recruitment as I think he's cooked as a player. I do get the sentiment behind it though. We don't need a giant lumbering ruck that can dominate taps, we just need someone than can play forward and help out in the ruck and take marks around the ground. Petrie of 5+ years would be perfect.

I still think Darling could play the role pretty well, and of course Gov has always said it's his preferred position.

IMO a much better option than Petrie would be Chris Dawes. Prepared to be shot down in flames, but he definately has a crack.

I don’t think he is going to be an elite CHF either (well not in the true/traditional sense of the position) but he can, and I hope will, be an elite footballer either as a 3rd tall or as a kind of utility player.
