So you pretty much are agreeing with my OP.
You mean am I agreeing with this:
I think its a number of factors. Not being a club that has has recent success is certainly a factor, unlike the Hawks who are a go to club for players because they know they are a chance of winning a flag. I think the biggest factor is simply distance. Professional players these days recognise that getting on a plane every second week reduces their career and therefore their earnings by a measurable amount. If we were a Melbourne based club (with everything else being equal) I am sure we would be having more success building a flag winning team. Thats just my thoughts.
Then no I am not. I don't think players dislike WA due to the flying and the affect it may have on their careers (i mean there is a lot of cases where WA players have played 200+ games) I think they dislike the flying because it means they are spending more time away from home, and more time on the road (who want's to do that).
Playing in WA has massive benefits, and I would say (purely a guess) that any player from the eagles or the dockers has a similar earning capacity to a Vic based player, even if the non flying extends their career by 1 or 2 season. There are significantly less players to share endorsement money with (i.e. radio spots, tv spots etc) and significantly less competition for footy related jobs after your career as a footy player ends (coaching, commentating, special comments etc).
