The question then becomes what on earth would we do with 14?

It's all well and good to get a pick but do we have a particular target in mind? Obviously we would need a new depth ruckman to replace Sinclair but we won't need 14 for that.

It's way overs for Anderson as well.

Is there are particular draft talent we would be after?

Guys listen is very simple really.

If we get pick 14 for swans:
We get the really fast ruckman (The one who match nic nat)
Then we trade lycett for early round pick (1-16)

To get daniel rioli/Ah chee

So all in all: Daniel rioli/ Ah chee and Fast ruckmen
Out: Lycett and sinclair.

All said and done:

In: Daniel rioli/Ah chee + Fast ruckman + Redden +Anderson
Out: Sinclair + Selwood + Lycett

We got another nic + A dedicated forward pocket

That takes him til his 30. I want him, not on that coin though and the cost.

Saw a post earlier in this thread:

WC: jetta + pick 33
Sydney: Sinclair + 57

Would probably do that to be honest. I think Jetta is worth more then Sinclair, but we are going strong for a contracted player.

So I think we are getting shafted, but if that's what it took to get the deal over the line I'd do it.

I still think you win in a straight Jetta for Sinclair swap, but we would take that deal....

Ps. No way jetta and 14 will end up at WC. You can quote me on that.
What do the Swans care when they are using the points to draft an academy kid?

As long as they get the points from lower picks traded in they are no worst off and they get Sinclair.

The Swans want something the Eagles have contracted and want to retain. So they need to sweeten the deal. This is how it can work and they are no worst off and both parties are satisfied.

I'll be pissed if the Eagles don't demand this and then the Swans just cash in pick 14 for academy points.

Which is? The only half decent WA talent is Ah Chee who may not be there at that pick.

Was looking Knightmare's draft ranking and man that draft looks weak. Probably only 10 ish of quality with only 3 being the real cream.
Don't place too much weight into phantom drafts, there will be plenty quality available at 14 and if we somehow get that pick we should def. use that pick. In fact that would make this trade period a huge success imo; bring in two quality mature talents for our flag push and stay relevant in the draft for top end talent.

Come on vozzo!!

Because we need ~1700 points to get Mills after the discount. Until you pay the debt, the next selection must be used.

Trading with a club like Essendon or Collingwood would allow us to get the full points for Mills with pick 14.

Then whatever picks we have left, we can use them in the draft.

Essentially pick 14 on the open market is worth to much to us to trade it.

Hibberd will be a gun, as will Oliver.

One may be available at pick 14ish

It's better than what it was. Under the previous system Sydney could've traded all their 'early' picks away and simply use their 4th round pick for Mills.
Under the previous system, father-son and academy bidding was done before the trade period so this didn't happen

Lewis Jetta is a real enigma for me he is like the Pakistan Cricket team........which one is going to turn up for the ODI....... the one that is 2 for 165 after 30 overs or the one that is 4 for 32 after 7 overs with two run outs.

Jetta at his best is exquisite........... however we don't see it enough.

Watching the clip above (post 1620) its apparent that when in full flight Jetta is worth a first rounder and....... some.

But that is countered by the lazy seagull we watched this year , WC V SYD at Domain Stadium, late in the game, when he often stood 30 meters on his lonesome at the Sydney 50 meter arc , whilst every one else was gathered around the contest, yes the occasional quick kick into the Swans forward line and Jetta ran in and got a couple of cheap junk time goals. Now when you add his " No Shows " in the Swans finals this season there is serious consideration for doubt. That says pass on the trading in of Jetta.

Part of my dilemma in warming to the acquisition of Jetta is two fold.

Firstly are we going to see the Jetta ( as seen in the clip above ) chasing and running down Dangerfield and making Cyril Rioli look pedestrian or are we going to see the seagull that goes missing in big matches, as was evident in this years final series. The much praised Eagles Web comes seriously unstuck if Jetta wont chase and apply defensive pressure ( and lets be honest here neither of these traits are a strong facets of his game ), because if he doesn't do these thing, or play his role in the web, then Jetta becomes the "trap door" through which you can bust open the web.

Secondly I am concerned with the implications that come from the school of thought that Jetta can be excused from his poor showing in this years finals series because he had already checked out of Sydney and his mind was diverted from the job at hand. Ummm..... that to me is a sign of mental softness and lack of a care factor, maybe harsh but thats how I see it. Taking this a step forward;is the mental softness and lack of care factor going to have implications to Jetta's application going forward at WC. Or in more blunt terminology. Does he and will he have, the passion and determination to put in the hard yards and help West Coast hoist a fourth cup ......or and I hate to say this however it is a concern for me ...is Jetta coming home to be with his family in a more comfortable environment and gladly picking up a top up to his retirement fund.

These two concern keep nagging away at the back of my head.

The hungry , focused and hard working explosive Jetta I want.

The seagull that may just go through the motions .... I would pass on.

Bottom line is that what I think makes SFA difference as the West Coast hierarchy are the ones that make that call....lets just hope they don'T f*** it up.
