McGinnity is the pits, but if we are going to have a red hot crack at the flag then a bloke who understands the system (but poorly executes it) may be of some/little value to us over, say, a kid we recruit in the 3rd round who needs to learn the system and wont play a game anyway. In that instance McGinnity represents the last tether of "depth".

I am glad we are bringing in other first 22 to fatten up the depth but Selwood out Redden in hasnt increased depth head count wise, it has just been an upgrade of quality. Noone else will take Patrick so its in our interests to let him run around in the Magoos and if the worst case happens and we get bulk mid injuries, he understands the game plan and can (maybe) play a role (hopefully).
Blah blah blah. We get bulk injuries we lose, McGinnity's retention is a meaningless gesture. He can't help win us a game.

Only positive is this years draft is weak as piss and we can offload this POS next year and have a better chance of getting someone decent.

That means no Anderson.

Waters, Main, Selwood, Sinclair and Colledge out. That's 5.

Redden, Jetta, Newman (upgrade) and 2 draft picks in. 5 also.
Would have to keep Newman on the rookie list or move tunbridge back there to keep another list spot

Would rather have delisted paddy

Im not sure the motivation for your arrogance towards my post? Forgive me for sharing my novice 2 cents on the potential benefits of retaining one of our cloggers for a year.

It leaves me more baffled when you arrive at the same conclusion that its not the end of the world if we give him another year. I genuinely appreciate most of what you post and enjoy your insight but that reply is you coming off like a bit of a squid dick, mate. We can have a conversation without your dismissive tone for whatever others may suggest.

Would of had to be Tunbridge going to the rookie list Newman upgrade would count as one of our 3 compulsory picks.

I would of too but that's the decision they have made.

Ugh McGinnity.

I mean I could maybe understand keeping him if the sub role was still around, but playing full games he is absolutely shocking.

Not sure what it means for Newman vis-a-vis list spots.

If McGinnity and Tunbridge survive, we're going to be looking at a massive clean out next year.
Barring some remarkable form, McGinnity, Tunbridge, Karpany, Newman and Bennell would all be worried about their spots, while Ellis and Butler would be likely retirees.

Acquiring picks for 2016 would be prudent.

So when they said to Newman wait until after the trade period are they talking about the main list or cutting him completely?

Karpany signed on for 2 years so will be at the club until 2017

The biggest issue is that we don't have the list space for a back up ruck.

Either they got a lot of faith in NN and Lycett's bodies or they are insane.

Mcginnity over a back up ruck is a very questionable decision.
